OK, finally installed AoE Online. No need to have CD-Key or something like that, but you have to be connected to GWL. Very nice fraphics, especially with 3D Vision, but gameplay is a big big come back to Age of Empires No.1. Could eventually spend money for more content, if later it is still promising.

It's a Live title, use the Marketplace to buy the game (Has no cost, there's a retail disc I saw at a store though offering a number of exclusives "greek pack" or what it was called.) and then use the serial from this purchase. Smile

EDIT: Holy hell at the number of DLC available for the game and the cost of them. Very Happy

I was under the impression that particular one gave 30% off from any further purchases for the next six months. Smile
(Thus bit by bit you gain a bit via this but still have to pay.)

Probably until the 1st epic drops Razz

There's really no game without access to a premium civ, and tbh, 19€ is not that much for dozens of hours of gameplay. On the other hand, it was extremely painful to visit the xbox site, purchase microsoft points and then purchase a premium Civ.

It's beyond retard. It's like they intentionally want to cause you pain while purchasing their game. It's gonna torment me for the rest of my life. Sad

P.S: And now Trackmania 2. Oh god, why cant these evil publishers just have crappy games.

You could have purchased the retail "box". It's basically just the code for the premium civ and a few useless goodies like a poster, e.g. No disc in there and, depending on where you buy, cheaper than the DD version.

well, after 2 hours of gameplay: 1) way too easy in comparison with the original AoE series. Truly made for PvP plays. 2) Very frustating to get upgrade and not being able to do something with cause you have to pay for it. So, it's true, it's a kind of demo for a further MMORTS.

So is there any SP aspect to this or can you co-op with friends and take on the AI or is it all just PvP/PvP co-op?

Most of the missions are SP with the option to enable co-op. Then there are the pvp areas with 1vs1, 2vs2...

I bought premium Egypt, why not? Personally I get tired of hearing people moan that they have to pay some money. No one is forcing them to buy the season 1 pack, one civ is affordable and the game is fun.

They want everything for nothing, sorry it's not going to happen, they want to give you a free taste so you pay for more otherwise how would they make a profit on the game?

It would be nice if there was a chat channel for premium members only which I reckon would remove 95% of the spam and whiners in general chat.

I agree with you. Can't understand the complaining. Sure it's boring to get hit with restrictions, but they gotto earn money somehow. I don't think the price is that bad either, might get a little steep if you want to buy more than one civ. But one civ, pretty cheap, and the game is loads of fun Smile Brings back memories.

I played this game quite some time in beta, and think it's an okay casual RTS. Will be playing this with my GF, she can't cope with the speed of sc2, and reaching a level in sc2, where you actually enjoy the game takes some dedication, she doesn't have time for games Sad

I know, but only the Greeks are available in retail so far and i wanted to try the Egyptians (since i played with the Greeks in the beta and wanted to try another Civ). Besides I've been playing since august 2 pre-release and i didn't want to wait.

It becomes harder as you progress. After level 30 things become a lot harder, and you can choose elite difficulty to spice things up. Not like brutal SC2, but harder than the old Aoe's.

true ? great. Remember to have played many times against Sumerian or Roman (in expansion pack at that time) in Very Hard difficulty level and believe me or not, you'd better to know how to micromanage every unit. BTW, I am not against paying for THIS ONE, as I have always been a fan of the series, but I have no choice than buying the retail box, so maybe will have to wait it comes in the region where I live.

because you have only shitty units, you dont have acces to advisors
now i have to grind 44k xp because the main quest requires a research i dont have Sad
