The desktop is pretty good and the price too! If you are just going to play with it, you could even consider getting a Phenom instead of the i5. Ofc, it's much faster, but with the saved money you could go for the 560 GTX and you'll definitely have much better FPS in 90% of the games

For a laptop I recommend either waiting for the Intel Ultrabooks or getting a Dell XPS 15.

srsly the Desktop is shit if you wanna play some games, get other parts instead.
DVD-Writer LG GH22NS50 bulk black <--ok
Samsung 500GB SATA-II 7200 rpm 16MB SpinPoint F3 <-- nothing beats a WD, other manufacturers have to much failure rates, espacially Seagate & Hitachi
BenQ G2222HDL 21.5 inch 5 ms wide black <-- 2ms or you got ghosting in fast shooters
Gembird KB-9630L silver-black <-- its ok but wouldnt be my choice
Kingston HyperX 4GB DDR3 1333MHz CL7 Dual Channel Kit 1.65V <-- is okay, but if you can get cheaper ram from any other manufacturer, buy these cause nowdays it doesnt matter if its Kingston, OCZ etc. but no noname ram !
Intel Core i5 2300 2.80GHz box <-- 2400k or 2500k, better OC rate if its needed. 2300 only when you wanna office with it.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 OC 1GB DDR5 192-bit <-- rubbish for gaming, even on 22". Get at least a 560 GTX Ti (OC), remember the Ti !!!
Gigabyte GA-HA65M-UD3H-B3 <-- No mATX, get an ATX one with more PCIe slots, also better OC results when you need them. mATX is only usefull for HTPC.
even the prices suxx for this set up, dunno if Romania is more expensive than Germany but this is what looks like a good config for 575€/750€ instead of 640€ for yours above.

@ DaLexy: brand and model for RAM does matter. OCZ's low voltage "Gold" series are pretty bad for example. Kingston's HyperX is fine, it's not more expensive than other brands.
What *is* stupid though is that it's a 1.65v kit, you kind of want a 1.5v kit.
Your note about the CPU is also bullshit, 2300 is fine for gaming (same clockspeeds and cores as an i5-750, but with the benefits of Sandy Bridge) if you're not planning to overclock. Also, there is no 2400K, only a 2500K (in the i5 series). Same thing goes for mATX not being good for overclocking, they're no worse than most ATX sized boards just because it's mATX.
@ Sajuuk_Khar: the system isn't *too* bad, but the price is shit, as it is with all pre-built systems. I'm assuming you don't want to build it yourself? If there's any shops near you that can build it for you, where you just choose the parts, I can build a better system than that for that price, even with "building" costs taken into account.

@werelds: so you could do something better for me? i could post a few sites from were i could buy a laptop. unfortunately, most of them are using romanian language so that might be a problem for you, but if you could help me that would be great.
i mean, a new desktop config is fine but could you pls help me finding a laptop i could use. i can't say for sure but most likely, i will need a laptop sometime soon. the MOST important thing for the laptop is the 17" display.
in any case, what i need most is to be more than capable of handling programs such as Catia and ProE and also run a few demading games (Crysis 1/2, Mass Effect 3...)

To be honest, I was more talking about desktop than laptop.
As far as laptops are concerned, what are you *really* looking for? Don't expect any laptop to run Crysis 1 properly. 2 perhaps, because that game looks worse than 1 (or it did before all the patches anyway).
If you require a good display and good build quality, you'll want an HP ProBook, Dell XPS or Vostro, IBM ThinkPad. All quite expensive, but you get your money's worth; especially IBM have fucking amazing displays.
If it's more about performance, then you'll have to start looking at Dell's XPS / Studio models, or perhaps "proper" "gaming" laptops like MSI's G-series.
Gotta be specific in what you want from a laptop.
Again though, very few laptops will be able to run games even half as well as a decent desktop - the ones that do are expensive (does not include Apple, for the record - their performance does not match up to their price)
Translation wouldn't be a problem btw, with Google Translate
For a desktop, if there's a "build your own system" kind of website, I can build you one there. We've got plenty of those here in NL, you just tell the shop what parts you want, and they assemble it for you

Posted: Thu, 18th Aug 2011 13:46 Post subject: What about this wishlist ?? |
|
 |
well, i'm back and i've been searching the web for the best cfg i can afford. and here is the new one (based on what you guys have told me before):
http://www.pcgarage.ro/vizualizare-wishlist/398430/
But my only problem is that i can be sure which video card to use. so far i've keeped an eye on these ones:
-http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-video/point-of-view/geforce-gtx-460-1gb-ddr5-256-bit-minihdmi/ -> this one is allready in the wishlist above
-http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-video/vtx3d/radeon-hd6850-x-edition-1gb-ddr5-256-bit/
-http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-video/gigabyte/geforce-gtx-550-ti-oc-1gb-ddr5-192-bit/
-http://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-video/sapphire/radeon-hd6790-1gb-ddr5-256-bit/
Now, from what i've seen online, the best of them (at least when it comes to clocks and so) is ATI 6850, followed by GTX 460, then ATI 6790 and finally GTX550 TI. i say again, this is based on overall performance i've seen. i have no idea which one is better suited for me.
As for a GTX 560 TI, sorry, it's just not in my price range, even if i strip a few thing from the wishlist above (after market cpu cooler, cheaper case and such), even though i kinda wanna keep 'em.
@Werelds -> as i said, here are a few sites i know from were you can create your own cfg. maybe you can help me buy a nice desktop PC
-http://www.pcgarage.ro/componente-calculatoare/
-http://www.emag.ro/
this are a few i remember. if i find out about other i will post them here (if still needed)

change your psu to brands like seasonic,antec,cooler-master,lc-power,high power (80+ ones)
rest of it is alright. |
High Power brand is it the Sirtec High Power? if it is, then the psu is a Sirtec. If you mean the psu should have more power then things are different.
