I ll watch it, but i know i probably will hate it, if the trailer is any indication on the quality

I think if you start a movie with this attitude it can never turn out good!
Idea

oh, no, i m pretty good at being benevolent towards movies (suspending rationality and enjoying the ride) and usually i can suppress any preconceptions i have pretty well too.

but if the "message" is shitty in the end, i ll still dislike the movie.

I am rarely this surprised by a movie. I didn't read any reviews or plot summaries, so I expected an action movie where apes take over and the poor humans fight bake. Boy was I wrong. The single fact that makes this movie worth a watch is that it is about the apes, not the humans. We follow an ape, Caesar, and his rise to power. It's a goddam ape revolution done right. CGI is also superb. If I really had to name a flaw then it would be the ending, it was unsatisfactory since it's wide open. I don't say it often, but I really wish it would've been an hour longer.

Thanks for the heads up. As for the ending; isn't Rise a prequel? We already know the outcome, since we've seen Planet and the original 60s version as well. I guess that's why it's left open.

They're obviously going for a series of movies, like the title suggests, but it still sucks tbh. I don't like open endings, it's just a personal thing.
One warning, the movie takes time to build up and tell a story, so if hardcore action is the expectation you'll be disappointed.

Oh don't get me wrong; I'm with you. I hate open endings almost as much as I hate endings that are "open to interpretation" -- I want a definitive answer and ending to the films I watch. Oh and I love the Walking Dead/Falling Skies series; I'm no stranger to build up and story telling rather than exploshunz and actionz! Very Happy

it wasnt that great come on lol..

my view not that it matters.. the direction was fine, monkeys and ape stuff was well done. but the overall storyline etc and way it panned out was a little flat..

I think it also increased way fast, very quickly at one point really....
