Ah I see. You are buying it in euro and unlocking as if you were in the USA.

They already punished you with the price Razz

well... in £, like i buy all my games but i imagine buying a game in your own region then using a US vpn to unlock isnt going to ruffle steams feathers, the devs have got their sale and money, steam has its cut, i have my game... everyone's happy Very Happy

for unlocking a game... no... abusing that system to buy games from cheaper regions than your own... yes.. i have used VPN to unlock LOADS of games early, literally about 20 or so, loads of people do it and steam doesnt seem to mind, you have already PAID for the game, so its kinda strange for them to ban you for something like this....

hmm... i wonder if i can still do my usual... log on using a us VPN, unlock the game and stick steam into offline mode til friday and the game officially unlocks here in the UK- as i dont see a cd key bit in the steam games page

Seems like a good idea... do you use this method frequently?

Switch off your internet connection, start steam, start in offline mode, resume internet connection.

Steam doesn't connect to the net unless you restart it.

EDIT: or that up above.

Pre-ordered and pre-loaded, with absolute confidence I might add. This is the first game in a long time that I can say that for. Bring on Tuesday morning, 2 A.M. CDT! Very Happy

All that being said, I'll still be grabbing the "unofficial" release should SE decide they are going to charge extra for that extra mission that comes in the boxed variant of the Aug. Ed. I bought the digital Aug. edition (for the soundtrack really), so I'll be damned if they plan on nickel and diming me over some bullshit marketing technicality.

I preordered the CE from a brick and mortar store back in june. I don't like being 'cheated' out of anything which is what I'd feel like if I didn't get "everything" such as the bonus mission with Tracer Tong, and you don't get that on steam. It's unfortunate else I could try the game on tuesday instead of friday.

I almost pre-ordered the augmented edition from steam but then I saw a post awhile back that said that the digital copies of the aug edition don't have the full package so I pre-ordered from the store but since I'm from a "PAL" country I have to wait until the 26 to play, no VPN bypass for me Sad

Hear hear Sad Honestly, I should have kept my Amazon preorder - even if it did mean an extra 3-5 day wait.

Yeah Valve aren't stupid. Odds are he did something dodgy probably fraud related and wanted to get a bad word in somehow. I mean heck he mentions a federal court case against him. Fraud wouldn't surprise me.

the whole vpn thing is a bit dodgy if you ask me, especially with the new steam guard protection.

I wouldnt risk my account (currently worth over 2 grand! jesus) just to get a game a bit earlier.

if I want it on the us date (or shortly after) ill just get the iso demo.
