How to kill Barrett when you have no weapons except stun gun?
Been doing stealth and never bothered picking up weapons, can I do it?
I QS just before cut scene.
I had the same problem and died a bunch shooting him with my tranq peashooter.
Spoiler:
After a while I realised there are rooms at either end of the area with weapons and ammo. If you have grenades you can stun him with them then throw those red explosive barrels at him too.
Ok I just defeated the first boss (Barrett), it was relatively easy.
Spoiler:
He's dumb and slow as fuck, that was his great weakness. I just used a couple of frag mines on him and a few rounds of AR, it surprised me he went down so quickly. I'm guessing his two buddies will be much quicker and smarter using their augs, hence harder to beat.
Someone had recommended to get the skin augmentations but I haven't activated any of those yet, after the fight I had 5 praxis points ready to use, 6 now after the long talk with sarif, thinking right now how to use them.
Now, my question for people who already beat the game, is this definitely 1/3rd of the game like it was said when the beta leaked? or more like 1/2, 1/4 etc?
It's around a quarter of the game =) Put it this way; I finished it earlier with a gametime of 46hrs (43 primarily, if you take into account all the reloads and section replays) and I did everything I possibly could. I DO recommend you get the skin upgrade though - not to protect against EMP blasts but to protect against electricity!
Has anyone else got an annoying sound delay/sync issue? I remember similar issues from games using directshow to play back sounds, for example ffdshow messed up Oblivion.
It's a lot more obvious when landing from a jump, it has like a 1 second delay. Already tried it in dx9 and dx11 modes and with various output sample rates for the sound with no discernable change
Where did all my game save files go? My computer crashed in the middle of the game and when I reloaded DXHR I had no options to load any saves. I rebooted and tried again and same thing. So I created a new game and made a save file, reloaded DXHR yet another time and now all I have is the 1 save file at the beginning of the game. Where are my original save files and how do I point the game back to them? I didn't see any way to switch user profiles.
I looked in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\28050, but there's only 4kb of files in there. Where are the save files stored?
save Malik without killing anyone? I tried like 5 times using only non-lethal weapons and takedowns, but i just don't have enough time. Had to kill a couple of dudes with a sniper rifle - obviously can't get the no kill achievement.
Spoiler:
The mech exploding and killing a soldier does not count AFAIK.
Anyone got a savegame at the start of returning to Detroit? After the last achievement I missed and don't have a save anywhere near that point.

Saves are called gamea1, gamea2 and gamer1 at around 420 KB each, there's also a gamer file and some other profile info in another file or so it seems.
(Autosave, previous autosave and my own savegame I guess those three refer to.)
( C:\Games\Steam\userdata\SteamIDHere\28050\remote - settings stored via registry similar to the other recent Tomb Raider engine titles, I'm sure it has a proper name.)
I guess that if you had it enabled Steam Cloud Sync (I keep it disabled myself though not exactly for this reason and it does still sync some data regardless.) got corrupted due to the game crashing like that.
(Exiting Steam and restarting that might perhaps have worked as to re-download and sync again but if you created a new file then those stored server-side will be replaced, although since they disappeared they probably got removed entirely regardless of this, which is highly unfortunate.)
I still seem to be having some sound issues, voices are too low when maxed and the music during the prerendered cutscenes is too loud even when I have that set to just 5 clicks. I also noticed this game likes to make my Geforce GTX 260 quite toasty while playing. My GPU maxes out at 100% usage and my temps are 90c according to EVGA Precision when I exit the game and look back on the time graph. I am not sure if this is an issue with the Ali release or not so any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, I finally found them in Users\<username>\Documents\ALI213\28050\Storage. IDK why they weren't showing up anymore, but I had to back them all up to another location, create X amount of saves (as many as I had previously), and then take my backed up save files and overwrite the new ones. Then I could load those games. It didn't work for quicksave though, so I lost about an hour of gameplay. Better than losing it all.
The 100% usage and heat are perfectly normal. Your GPU is simply working at full capacity from not being CPU limited. IE. you are GPU limited. GPU's tend to get pretty toasty in such conditions.
Kyorisu, thanks man, I'll try again on my next playthrough. Gotta take some more stun gun and tranq ammo with me. I obviously didn't have enough and relied on takedowns too much.
That turned out pretty well then Summonerx, good to hear it was recoverable though it's weird they were not listed despite the files being present, it's resolved though and that's what's important.
(Save progress loss is amongst the more frustrating things that can happen in a game after all.)
It has a pretty poor draw distance so it stutters every now and then when it loads and unloads data depending on computer hardware.
(Or that's my observation at least, not entirely sure what else there is but the SSAO effect can apparently be lowered to counter some of this weird as it sounds.)
Gameshop buyers! This is for you(or anyone else missing the so called Explosive pack key)
The mission itself is in the game, there's no key needed, you will know when you get to it because the loading screen will thank you for pre-purchasing. At the end of the mission, the Grenade Launcher will be rewarded to you.
What about the other 2 tools, the AUD and remote explosives or what was it?
Anyway, just finished the first mission and came back to the Sarif HQ, I already have hacking level 4 because I finished the mission without killing anyone and convincing that prick to let the hostage go.
Sadly, I could never find any in-game or in shops.

GamersGlobal: Have you actually played last year, Alpha Protocol? Did you like it?
David Anfossi: Yes, I've played it. The game had very good approaches. I like those kind of games and Obsidian had the right recipe for a good game. Alpha Protocol was unfortunately neither the critics nor the player community to well, but I think the brand still has a lot of potential.
GamersGlobal: War Alpha Protocol perhaps too complex for the modern player?
David Anfossi: I can not speak for all players, but I really liked Alpha Protocol. I think the principle could be further developed. No idea what other players think about it.

GamersGlobal: David, a few weeks ago made a leaked pre-release version of your game, the rounds on the Internet. Square Enix seemed to do little to stop this. Was this a real leak or guerilla marketing?
David Anfossi: Yes. I can only say so much here that it certainly was not about marketing, but that was a real leak. He made us very angry. The team has been working for four years in the game and was really upset.
GamersGlobal: But the reactions of people who've played the pirated version were true positive.
David Anfossi: Yes, we have received very positive feedback about the content of the press demo, but it's still not the right way to experience the game.

Hm considering i finished detroit + hengshai and stopped last night, could anyone who finished the game tell me how far i am? I thought there was a 3rd hub but apparently i was wrong.
I'm really hoping i still have at least 1/3 left in the game . It's so awesome.

JF: If we did DLC, it will certainly be brand new content, nothing that we intentionally held back in development. Any DLC we make will be able to stand on its own and won't feel outdated.
D: Yes, being outdated is the best way to kill a franchise.
JF: We've been very thorough in Human Revolution. We want to make sure that this franchise stays pertinent for a long period of time. It's not about making this one title and saying, "Bye-bye!" We want to take care of the franchise.

The working title was DX3, but we originally wanted the final name to be Deus Ex: Echoes of Icarus. Both Echoes of Icarus and Human Revolution were the finalists. We went with Human Revolution for several reasons.

I like how everybody's so worried that the game is gonna end
Indeed man, this game gives you back those feelings from playing the first game. I didn't think that could be possible. I wish the game could last forever
Did anyone get the new biochip when the old one starts acting up? I thought "geez I don't trust Tai Yong Medical at all" and skipped on the new chip. When Zhao tried to shut me down it obviously didn't work. But what happens if you got the new chip?
