i thought id saved up some reward points at an online store i use... thought id have enough to buy something... had 100 'points', which i thought meant i would have 100 bucks... alas... not quite.
i know points are a 'bonus' and so as such should mean a minor 'benefit' but read this:

in summary, $1000 equals TEN BUCKS. thats how much of a reward i get for buying with these guys. 10 lousy dollars. suddenly i fail to see how, in their words, "It pays to be loyal"
apparently, it does... but not by any meaningful amount!
well so much for tonights purchase... jeez. i mean when you have to spend ten THOUSAND dollars to get a free hundred dollar item, i cant help but wonder why they even run shitty promotions like this, because if im dropping THAT kind of cash, im not really going to give two shits about a measly hundred bucks

in germany they ll give you 50 to 100 euros if you open an account at a bank (if your minimum salary is over 1500eu *facepalm* )

Usually, at an honest store, they will just have cheap prices and discounts when they can be applied, and not try to bait you with some collecting bullshit.
The worst thing is this "Payback" cards here in Germany. They collect all your data, what you buy and where, and say you can get discounts or some shit. But in the end you don't get any money or anything, you get points that you can spend on items. But not any items, only special items from their collection that you would never have bothered to buy anyway if you didn't participate in their "partner program".
So they get all your data, can create a perfectly efficient customer profile of you and send you advertisements to specifically cater you, and you are allowed to buy (overpriced) stuff from them in return.
