I would really like to play this game. Every gameplay from it looks totally awesome, plus I love slasher games. This is real console game for me.

I'm planning to buy PS3 soon so maybe then.

You think there will actually be a sequel?

I'm afraid these kind of games do not sell anymore. Sad Vast majority of contemporary console gamers seem to be only interested in shooters...

I have to admit to being a huge Castlevania fan, apart from the DIRE N64 versions I've enjoyed every single one with a huge point to Castlevania Symphony of the Night on the PSX, an utterly brilliant game that spawned GBA and DS versions, all brilliant and addictive.

As for Lords of Shadow, what a great fun game, I actually own this (ok, my modded 360 died so I had to buy), it has its little niggles like awkward control at points but other than that its the first PROPER castlevania in 3D and worth every penny.

If you see this for 20quid then put your hand in your pocket and grab it, failing that its a 2 verb must, they are not being wasted.

Btw: for the retro folk, you simply have to play Castlevania 4 and Dracula X on the Snes, they sound great and play bloody well.

Am I the only one here who, as a MASSIVE Castlevanian fan, was utterly unimpressed by Lords of Twilight? It didn't feel, play, look or sound like a Castlevania game -- and that's for good reason; it's NOT one. The game has nothing to do with existing canon or setting, the very existence was kept secret for so long simply because the developers didn't want people to know about the radical changes to the CV/VK world and thus negatively impact pre-sales hype.

Honestly, this game is pretty and that's IT. Nothing else. If anything, I completely agree with Jim Derpling. This is Castlevania in, stolen, name only. A pox on Lord of Shadows. Bring back Metroidvania!!! The PS2 titles (such as Lament of Innocence) are infinitely superior to LoS in everything but visuals.

They stated from the start that the game will be a reboot of the series. Still I can see how the Castlevania fans would be bothered by it.
Personally I didn't cared that much for the old games and really enjoyed LoS -- the visuals were great but the combat packed more punch for me. The combat had some nice/interesting mechanics to it, far better that GoW imo.

They most certainly did NOT state "from the start" - the Castlevania ties were hidden until a few months before release. The game was originally just called Lords of Shadow and NO mention of Castlevania, Dracular, Belmont or anything similar.

You're right, they didn't admit that from the start but they (Dave Cox) hinted that in a 2009 interview. So from that interview I got the impression that they were making it as a reboot (and they were, they just don't really say it out loud) and 2009 was when I first head about it( they showed the first trailer/teaser at 09 E3/Gamescom) and took notice of that game, so that's pretty much the start for me.

Here's the interview: It's from nov 2009, almost 1 year before the game lunched.

Konami producer David Cox has decided to have a little fun with his Castelvania fan followers on Twitter. His latest tweet has many believing that a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will be revealed soon.

Here's the tweet that gained so much attention and excitement:

Today and tomorrow I am in the land of Dracul.... What am I doing there?? You will see.... Smile

During the series' 25th anniversary, Cox stated that "Castlevania will never die" and that it definitely will be returning in the future. With Lords of Shadow holding a commendable score of 85 on Metacritic, I'd say there's no doubt that a follow-up to the critically acclaimed entry is getting close to being announced.

PAX East is just four days away and E3 is in two months. I believe one of these huge events will hold the unveiling of the sequel to Lords of Shadow.

Please rls it this year ! Very Happy

Paul Gale, the man who broke the news about PlayStation All-Stars months and months before any other website, is now reporting that Mercury Steam is developing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, and is planning to launch the game on Wii U, PS3, Vita and Xbox 360.

Gale also states a new Castlevania is heading to the Nintendo 3DS, titled, Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. PGN reports that Mirror of Fate was intended to be released on the Wii U and 3DS with full connectivity, however Konami ditched it in favor of a Wii U version of Lords of Shadow 2. Mirror of Fate on 3DS will feature two playable characters and co-op play. It will use the 3DS’ forward-facing camera as a mirror and the outward facing camera for puzzle solving.

E3 is right around the corner so expect official announcements at that time — if true of course — which judging by Gale’s rumor record, it is.

Ended with a cliffy so of course a sequel is welcome. Hope they still have the main voice actors, Robert Carlyle and Patrick Steward's performances made that game. Very Happy

Moar Castlevania soon plss.. loved the Lords of Shadow. Be interesting to see what setting they put this in, since the ending in the previous game left things a bit open.

Tell me, what exactly happened at the end. It seemed like a setup for a followup game in modern times, but what i've seen of the second incoming game sure as hell isn't modern. Did they ditch the plans, or was it just a totally pointless scene?

It's not pointless, that's an cutscene at the end of LoS, the game ends when he becomes that dark lord (in the second DLC).
Surely a bunch of stuff happened since he became that dark lord and until the ending scene in LoS! What's so bad about playing through those moments?

Maybe they're holding of on the modern day LoS until the next gen, that way they can go balls out and make it sandboxy like Darksiders/Infamous/Prototype with next CG-like graphics. Cool Face

plus you have to GRIND like a motherfucker and replay some levels like 40x times to have the needed EXP for health and new skills

No, you don't. I've replayed some levels before the end game, to unlock some item, and had no need for grinding in order to afford abilities.

The difficulty it was meant to be played on is irrelevant - I've seen no disclaimer about it btw - people will play on whatever difficulty they feel comfortable with, and "normal" is a standard here, usually.

You said you have grind alot in this game, without mentioning that doing so is only required on higher level of difficulty (thgouth I had no problems with that on hard at all; the game rewards you for playing skillfully so if you do that you'll have enough XP for upgrades, talk about pussy mode) so if you play on normal, you don't have to " GRIND like a motherfucker and replay some levels like 40x times to have the needed EXP for health and new skills".

So spare the elistist replys for someone who cares.

Played the first couple of chapters and pretty impressed. Gonna stick at it and see if it gets better! Anyone played the 2 DLCs? Are they worth it? Get much more gamplay from them?
