That would be such a pain in the ass to do as well. Imagine accidently laying the side of your hand on that thing while drawing. An entire area would be smudged and fucked.

That's why artist usually have these little semi gloves on their writing hand to prevent the smudging.
But with this I think the guy is just very, very careful
