Told you, all this talk of "unhackable!! OMG!" is nothing but hot air and bullshit. Sony not only shut that shit down with 3.60, but now they've blocked hardware downgrading as well. People should really learn to keep their mouths shut when bragging about their "unhackable" exploits, it only serves to piss Sony off.

maybe it can be still downgraded if you updated it to newest FW(don't think it been tested),but not below the FW the console came,so it useless until 3.60 exploit will be released.
it's somewhat reminds the PSP,that you can't downgrade pass the FW the console came from, though PSP security is a Joke compared to the current HD gen

Yeah, for now even updating to 3.70 can still offer a downgrade path (hardware based, of course) but the new machines that started coming with 3.56 factory installed are mostly blocked. Not all, of course, but that number is steadily increasing and until someone finds a way to exploit that new METLDR, it's only going to get worse. I know exactly who has specific exploits and solutions, but they have no intention of releasing - though before all this Gitbrew drama, this person did privately announce they were intending to release the latest keys. I don't believe that for a second anyway.

just give it time the ps3 hacking scene is still very young.
we never thought that a new homebrew hack for 360 would happen.. it did.. will happen to ps3 to.

Except the difference is; you could ALWAYS play the latest games on the 360.. even when MS shut down the JTAG exploit. So the games console could still be used as a games console. The PS3, on the other hand, hasn't been able to play recent games since March.
Huge difference.

You know... since I've realised that I can really afford to buy any games I need I don't give a fuck about PS3 hacking.

I've.... done something terrible, gentlemen.
I've... left the custom firmware behind and updated to latest.
Forgive me...

Nothing to forgive, sir, no amount of broken Linux installs, or pathetic ASCII homebrew titles, or half ported apps, are worth giving up recent/upcoming games. Good for you, sTo0z.

Exactly. Well said.
I'm about ready to do this myself as there are a few upcoming games that I want to play and since most of the stuff released for the PS3 has been as you described in detail.
I assume once you go legit firmware all of the stuff that did work (App & Stuff) won't work anymore and you'll lose the ability to play backups obviously. I'm wondering if I should clear my hard drive of games before doing this as once it's done I lose FTP access. I have an internal PS3 Hard Drive.

You'll lose access to any unsigned, or 3.41/3.55 signed, apps - which includes; FTP, file manager, backup managers, downloaded PSN titles, XMB-based PS3 titles, homebrew games, etc etc etc.

Just read that someone leaked the 3.60 sdk with some appldr keys , how useful can that be?

appldr keys are useful, but appldr keys have nothing to do with the SDK and aren't in here !

Heh, I know exactly who leaked this. I didn't think it would go THIS far.. but it's good for the scene, what's left of it at least. I'm curious; isn't it possible to take a 3.60-crypted EBOOT and then decrypt using the 3.60SDK and resign to 3.55 using the existing 3.55 public/private keys?

If we cannot play 3.60+ by the time COD:MW3 is released, I fear I may have to upgrade to latest FW too!
