Hopefully they will bring out more decent weapons for starters, but I think that is just false hopes.

In BF2 the weapons were fine, that was also the reason why you could have clanwars. Everyone played as rank one.

Then play on unranked servers? Smile

Ranked vs Unranked

One of the biggest choices which a server administrator has to make is, whether to run the server in Ranked or Unranked mode.
In Ranked mode, player progression is tracked on EAs master servers. Weapons are unlocked by playing the game. Player progression is also visible on Battlelog. The server administrators will have to abide by the Battlefield Rules of Engagement.
In Unranked mode, player progression is not tracked on the master servers. Server administrators have free reign on such servers – no Battlefield Rules of Engagement to heed. They can control in detail which weapons are available to the players, etc. This mode is suited to playing clan matches, tournaments, or to those players who just like the fairness of everyone having the same range of weapons available to them.

Q:Will the Co-op MP unlocks be available in MP aswell? Or do we need to play Co-op to unlock those?
A:You need to play coop.

Q:Will there be anyway to communicate via voice chat with other squads other than your own squad?
A:Voice chat is by default all team. You can then pick channels.

Q:Is BF3 using vertical or horizontal FOV
A:Vertical. That let's players have consistent fov setting no matter their aspect ratio.

Q:Has kit cutomizing been changed since alpha?
A:Yes kit customization has evolved.

Q:Alan, regarding weapon's damages and recoil, have they been modified since alpha trial?
A:Substantially. Not a single gun is unchanged. And not a single gun in the beta will be the same at ship. Balance feedback!

Q:will we have at least one sniper rifle that can shoot through helicopter cockpit glass?
A:Yes, sniping the pilots is still possible.

Well, I beg to differ. AEK-971 , XM8, T-88 LMG (not to mention that imo the "basic" sniper, the M24 was the best sniper rifle in the game) were all beastly weapons to begin with, generally much better than the rest of the unlockables.

In BF3 you will get AK-74M/M16A3/M4A1/M249 to begin with, not bad at all if you ask me.

There are two M16s:

M16A3 auto/semi-auto, default assault weapon at rank 1.

M16A4 burst-fire/semi-auto, later unlock.

That still doesn't say if the starter weapons will be decent. I guess they won't. But I must admit that this option will be a good solution.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

If the Alpha is any indication, i find the starter ones to be better than unlocks in most cases. M16A4 and AK74M, american and russian assault starter weapons, were years ahead the G3 unlock. M4A1 and AK74U were better than G36C unlock IMHO for engineers too. SV98 was good as a sniper unlock, but i still prefeer to run in iron sights with the semi-auto starter snipers (SR-25 for americans and Dragunov for russians). Very Happy
Tbh the only exception was the M249 unlock for support. The starter support weapons are a joke next to the sheer m249 awesomeness.
Of course there will be tons of unlocks in the final version, and maybe (prolly) we will see some weapon clearly OP next to the others. But the Alpha showed they were in the right direction.

I bet the beta will be out around the 28th and will run until a week or so prior BF3's launch on the 25th.

And the map wll probably be Caspian Border.

Just a feeling I have. S:

i think ill probably wait on my order. i fully suspect it'll come to steam AFTER EA has sold as many origin-dependant copies as they think they immediately can, and if i decide i still really want the game, and it HAS to be tied to a platform, well shit... i already have steam, so id rather have it on that platform.

i know EA is saying they dont want it on steam, but the only thing stopping them is that they want to push origin, and once they have it on as many pc's as they can, im pretty sure theyll go back to steam... money is money after all...

hey, believe me, i have zero love for steam either.

my point is that i already have steam, so if i can get by without having to have ANOTHER digital platform on my system that a game NEEDS to run, then id rather have it on steam is all.

if i didnt have steam, then id be fine with origin.

though ill have to see if spykez is still doing his steam thing... like fuck im paying $100 usd for the game through steam due to its racial profiling system Wink
