It seems co-op (lan) is working with some "tweaks" (DNF demo ID in the steam_appid.txt)

Can anyone suggest something I can do to fix this please? Sad

ATI Radeon 4870 512mb with latest Catalyst (11.6)

Temps seem ok and even if I ramp up the fan to drop the temps even lower it makes no difference

Latest catalyst are 11.8, not 11.6, those artifacts dont look like a driver issue and the temperature is fine... but you can try it anyway

Card is overheating , clean heat sink , replace thermal grease.

No, that's a negative since you need cracked steam too. But I don't believe this, has to work without cracked steam... Skidrow could make it work with their customized Loader (if they release a version too).

Well its not a big deal really, I have like 3 steam installed and the 3 of them are working just fine. (The "first" one/default installation folder and such being the original steam without cracks and shit)

I dont like to use steam, but I have them just in case I need to play some cracked co-op

Really doesn't seem to be an overheating issue because I can as mentioned lower the temps way down (60c max) and it's still there.

They are indeed, thanks, lot of use when their own app tells you 11.6 are the latest! Downloading now

Pretty much fine with other games, don't PC game too much but when I do it keeps up ok, Deus Ex HR runs perfectly fine on it with max settings (not saying much obviously as it's not really PC optimised).

Well, I like Steam and I have a bunch of games on there. I really don't want to put my Steam account in danger because of stuff like Smartsteam.

Well accounts are free, I have 3 different accounts for the 3 steams and never had any problem with the "original" one.
I know what you mean anyway, I dont buy a lot of games so I really dont care if something happens

Problem #8 Dead Island Crash Fix – Blackscreen or Crash To Desktop upon startup / launch
If you are using dual displays, disable extended or duplicate displays or completely unplug your second monitor. Dead Island should now startup without problems.

Fixed it for me...stupid solution though..

Nice to hear. I watched a live stream of someone playing it last night, and I really liked what I saw, graphics/gameplay/openness. I hope a properly patched release comes out soon.
