From all indications, it seems current burners can't burn XGD3 at all. I hope that's a gross exaggeration from fear mongers.. because otherwise

You mean like the old GD days? Let's hope so... though the doubter in me remembers that GD to CD conversions invariably meant downsampling video/audio, ripping video/audio or the ghastly split-disk method.

can't wait for that new fw, so I can finally update, I tried the game on pc damn it's freaking awesome, just can't play it with a mouse and keyboard after all the time I've spent with gamepad Very Happy

install this dash and then 1.91lt. Game should work allright

@headshot: you reach the lab in Act 3 Wink I wonder how many sidequests this game has in total, I got an achievement for doing 75 sidequests some hours ago.

lvl 29/73% story plot and still not tired of this game. Btw, don't sell items you find you need them to attatch the weapon mods Smile

Hmm maybe I was wrong to assume 5 maps = 5 acts.

Someone said 4 acts so maybe thats true. The lab and prison maps are considerably smaller as they are in buildings.

Ive heard a lot of mixed opinions on this game. Some say its boring and its just a constant item hunt.

No amount of comments will stop me trying it for myself however Smile

Is there any way of telling if a game XGD3 by checking the disc visually?

I wont spoil anything, but there is another big map in Act 3 Wink Taking a long break now, lvl 30 at chapter 14. Iv got lots of weapon mods I still need items to add... bah! The search continues tomorrow!

Retail release? The JTAG release IS the retail release, you won't see a Dead Island release ready to be burned because:
a) No-one can fully tip XGD3 discs yet, and
b) You wouldn't know how to burn them anyway.

No. It has the new dash on disc witch will rewrite your firmware when you install it. It being the update, because you can't play the game without the update.
Long story short you need LT + 1.9 or higher.

just because of some fluke where suddenly there are two types of disc available doesn't make him completely wrong.

do you think ms will make that mistake for much longer?

we still can't play driver, space marines and most likely any future releases (gow3) until we have lt2.0 and confirmation the discs will burn.

Well the dashboard update did not overwrite my firmware as I suspected. Once the update reboots the system it throws an E66 system error. Power down/power up and everything is back to normal - i.e. playing backups. The downside is that it did not install the new dashboard. Could be worse I suppose.

And what part of click once to submit went over your double posting head? Troll Face

Of course it didn't install the new dash because it was unable to write the new firmware. It still had a go though, didn't it.
