No, they were not. They were low-budget sci-fi flicks without nearly any popularity at all, that had heart, story, and a lot of other things in them.
I should remember, I watched them "at the time".

1. im not a fucking redneck
2. yes, german dubbing is decent for new flicks that release worldwide on the same day, watched constantine in german and it was good. but still.... i hate spending money to see a flick that's dubbed
3. movie theatres suck (except for the dolby soundsystem), the big screen is usually blurred to shit and causes my eyes to be in pain, if they would play the shit from a dvd source it would be ok.. but the reels just suck in this day and age. and not to forget, u usually have to leave like an hour earlier to still get tickets for these big movies, and then have to sit and endure almost an hour of lame ass commercials... so thats 2 hours of waiting to watch the friggen movie, and that just sux ass.
4. the peeps who have the same movie opinion as me told me its not worth it to see, so i didnt go tonight, rather wait n dl some decent copy in the coming week
5. i guess thats all

Some actors are so horrible at rhetoric, they really could use a voice actor (ie. Keanu).

a good calibrated film projection kills any dvd projection on a big screen. it even kills digital high definition although hd is getting really compairable to 16mm. and i am not only talking about resolution but also saturation, contrast and sharpness.
i rember watching return of the jedi with my dad, who took me when i was 7.
btw for the first movie, lucas had trouble getting any money from studios cause they thought the script to be shit. in the end spielberg and some others lend him money to finish the first movie. he didn't get money for it otherwise he could not have paid for the production. all he got was the merchandise rights...well bingo for him. there is this improvised feeling about the first three movies...like casting harrison ford, who worked as a set builder, when the actor for han solo broke his leg or something. and he invented a lot tricks since cgi wasn't there and it all worked together to create this certain charm that is lacking in the new movies.
jesus christ was a gangsta rapper. they killed him. he came back and made a platinum album.
