i give up on this shit , i completed it with my sons in coop then we were going to play through again and we were on act 3 with our high level chars..
my fucking game freezes with some steam error , i restart the game and all my fucking save games are gone...
must be the game because i dont get any lockuops and crashs in any other games i play on a regular basis..
deleted that shit

This is my Dead Island mod version 0.1

For now it's focused on increasing the occurance of firearms and increasing the ammo carrying capacity, making the firearms using class viable before level 20. Also ammo is sometimes sold on merchants now as well, and theres a chance of good weapons being sold on merchants.
For those who want a firearm free holiday island this mod is not for you, for those of you who like shooting stuff with various guns, knock yourself out.
Revolvers will spawn from level 2. Was 10
Pistols "Beretta" will spawn from level 8. Was 10
Medium pistols "Desert eagle" from level 12. Was 15
Short shutguns from level 13. Was 18
Shutguns from level 15. Was 18
Single shot rifles from 17. Was 20
Burst rifles from 18. Was 20
Automatic Rifles from 20. Was 20
And as noted ammo has been added to various merchants.
Also it removes the bloom on the hud and the refraction from weapon change.
Extract it to your Out folder in the Dead Island folder in your Documents folder.
Oh and don't play on VAC enabled servers with this mod, will probably get you banned though I don't know.
If theres bugs or the mod otherwise ruins your game experience, I don't care. Just don't use it.
EDIT: Do not use until bug that empties shops is fixed, if possible. If you don't care about shops, delete the shops.scr but this mean you won't have ammo for the guns besides the ammo that drops from zombies.

It's in the DATA0.PAK file in the Dead Island\DI folder (it's just a zip file). |
Yep, found it. But I don't know where to put it so it actually affects my game since I don't have any files DI related in my documents.
There are two "out" folders as a possibility for me.
X:\Program Files (x86)\Dead Island\DI\out
X:\$mart$team\userdata\87970279\13140\remote\out
But nothing DI related in my docs.

Damn, I guess this won't work for Co-Op
Well I would try it if it wouldn't tinker with the visuals too
*EDIT* DI related files in Docs again?
Did they patch something in the legit version so that stuff gets stored there?

you make the "data" folder in the /out/ that has all the settings and the logs folder
should be DI\Out\Data\Skills or whatever path the file uses inside the pak file

yea but for me my dead island folder had 2 different out folders because one was from reloaded version for the save games before the coop mod.
the right /out/ should be in the DI folder and it should be where the games logs folder and some video/audio settings are
btw dont extract a whole data0.pak file there or the games text is all fucked up when you load up so only stick files you have actually modded
btw in the character name levels.xml files you can alter how much shit you can carry etc for example

the hp of the characters just seems to weak to me when your like lvl41 etc alot of the zombies can 2 hit you... the game is really crying out for some kind of armour to make you stronger, i'd multiply the health each champ has by atleast 4x to make the game seem better at higher levels or your just watching a respawn screen half the time
change how much ammo you can carry in default_levels

No, pirates can use it just as well
If you want the bloom and refraction stuff, just delete the postprocess folder.

@Snoop instead of editing individual char skill files you should just edit the default_levels.xml the rest inherits that one.
Unless you want to edit a specific skill thats unique to said character/class.

Hmm looks like theres an overflow when I added the ammo to the merchants that didn't sell it before hand it emptied the shops lol!
So don't use my mod until I fix this, if possible.

Correct Directory = Install Directory:
X:\Program Files\Dead Island\DI\out\Data\

Awesome farming glitch.
Aquire great weapon, upgrade it, throw weapon, the minute its thrown open the inventory and the weapon will still be there, drop it. Close inventory. Boom! Duplicate weapon. Sweet.

Was posted a few pages back.
The special zombies disappointed me a bit. Especially the butcher. Not at all what I expected, especially in terms of difficulty.

Btw.. level progression slows down extremely if you're in level 30 range. I guess we're a tad too high for Act3 1st playthrough.
