Hated most of the bosses in Demons Souls. Getting one shotted sucks! But once I got stronger and could withstand more hits it got more fun. I thought the boss fight with the 2 gargoyles was pretty epic. And of course the battle with Allant..

Looking forward to this.
Official box art is awesome, if the OP wants to add it. As well as a description!
Description:
Set in a rich, dark fantasy universe, the game's tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and groundbreaking online features combine for an utterly compelling experience. Dark Souls breaks down barriers with a seamless world that encourages exploration and demands adaptability. As players encounter terrifying enemies and discover new areas, the game's foundation of challenge and reward permeates the experience, delivering an unparalleled sense of achievement.
The Beacon Fire:
In Dark Souls, players have a new friend. The Beacon Fire is a key feature that will permeate the entire game universe, serving a number of important functions for players as they battle on many levels to overcome the uniquely challenging universe.
The game world of Dark Souls is seamless, with no distinct levels and few loading times. Throughout the world, the small, warm light of the beacon fire will serve as a point of subtle relief that glows in the cold, dark world that the player explores.
The main functions of The Beacon Fire are as follows:
* Recovery Point: Use the fire to restore the Life Gauge
* Restart Point: When a player dies in the game they can restart from the last Beacon Fire, helping players progress in the face of adversity and death.
* Sharing Point: Players may gather around the beacon fire to share the Dark Souls experience
And heres some nice new screenies

May the NFOrce be with you always.

Bring it on!
I think the new Beacon Fire feature will be better for restarting after death. No doubt they will be few and far between though lol.

It was the last time, on Demon's Souls, so let's hope it's the same this time. At least we won't have to wait for the NA/EU release.

does anyone know how coop is handled this time around? It was pretty clunky, imho, in demons souls.

haha, from software devs aren't whining about people playing the game early, but just plain griefing them instead
Quote: | Dungeon crawling, fighting for your life, and the tension that comes along with doing so in a dark fantasy world are the focus of Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls. The From Software and Namco Bandai Games title wasn’t supposed to be available in Japan until September 22, but some "lucky" players got their hands on early copies thanks to some trigger-happy retailers.
These "lucky" players now have to face the developers head on, in-game. The dev team at From Software got wind of the early players romping around in the universe and decided to make use of a special feature in the game: invading players’ worlds. The developers are fighting the early comers with Black Phantoms whose stats are foaming at the mouth.
To paint a picture, the devs’ Black Phantoms are running in with level 145 characters able to withstand 1900 points of attack, and all their abilities are at the max level of 99. The Dark Souls reviewer at Edge has been playing almost 60 hours, only to sit at level 43 with 1001 HP and abilities ranging between 8 and 30.
The game will be out in North America on October 4 – we suggest you play at your own risk before then. |

Wow, time is here already?
One of the more anticipated game of the year! In lack of anything related to Castlevania this is the closest. Challanging as well it seems. Like a ninja gaiden meets castlevania. Sounds too good to be true.

Wait, have you played the original? Demon's Souls? If you ask me; neither of the Souls titles are anything like Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden. Honestly, they're hack'n'slash RPGs, sure, but nothing like CV.
