Nice! I wonder if you really need to obey all the 32,000 rules after SC is deployed.

Nah the whole SC procedure isn't that complicated, especially after the 2011 rules (maybe the fact that Pit stops are permitted could be tricky to implement with the AI, however it's nothing extremely difficult).

Yeah, your right. After checking it out, it seems to be manageable:

Quote:

If safety car is called by a steward.. please obey the order, If it dues to a lagged start resume starting order under safety car if it is because of an incident at any part of the race or at turn one hold position under the safety car until the car has gone in, overtaking can resume into the first corner once its been called safe...

UNDER THE SAFETY CAR YOU MUST NOT PIT FOR NEW TYRES!

Safety Car:

The safety car mode will occur when 40% or more of the field is wiped off the track during the opening laps. This means extra safety must be taken into turn 1 of any track.

During the safety car period, you must follow these rules, or a 15 second time penalty will issued to a driver disobeying them or a drive through penalty:

• The driver leading must slow down and back the field up. He must not exceed speeds of 125 mph.
• There must be 10 metres between each car but no more than 100 metres.
• There is no overtaking during this period.
• If a driver goes off the track, they must re-join where ever they fit in and may not regain their track position during the safety car period.
• All drivers currently in the race must be following the safety car, if a driver is not a the back of the cue, they must say and the rest of the field must re-enter the safety car mode until all drivers are present.
• If a drive through penalty is issued, then the driver may not pit for fresh tyres.

drs is a great addition to f1, you do know it can only be used within a 1 second gap of the car your following and only inside certain zones on the track, its not just a turbo boost to be used at will lol

I've been reading a lot of good things about the handling, and the fact that novices don't like it is definitely a good sign:

Quote:
Car handling in F1 2011 leans heavily towards simulation. You can choose from a variety of assists, such as traction control, braking help, and a dynamic racing line, but the series still doesn't have any tutorials to help novices feel comfortable with the incredible acceleration, braking, and cornering speed of an F1 car.

The remodeled suspension system gives the car a more believable sense of weight so that you can now feel its mass moving during corners, allowing you to predict slides and correct them appropriately.

The new physics make driving with a standard gamepad a much larger challenge than before; a force feedback steering wheel creates a greater connection between you and the car. A wheel also makes the game much easier to master by allowing much more subtle steering inputs. These aren't always possible when driving F1 2011's twitchy cars with an analogue stick.

I know that it's not a simulation but 9 seconds are definitely too much. There are something like 4-5 levels of AI difficulty though, so probably only one of them will represent realistic times
