Everything works fine and well, constant fps, no stuttering, no nothing. But after 5 minutes or so, the screen turns black, everything freezes, hud is still on and timer is counting, but my pc works sooooo slow, i can barely move the cursor when i start the task manager. There, the client is "eating" around 900mb of ram. So, i thought i check the temperatures. My gfx reach as high as 57 degrees, which is realy low for this card. As for the cpu, it goes up to 67 degrees, while the box fan is spinning at around 2200 rpm..
That's not my point though. If you take the Formula from TM the differences aren't as big as they should be. Yes, obviously TM has the ridiculous speed, but compared to the other cars in the game the Formula also has crazy downforce (TM actually has pretty awesome variety in vehicles, they're all completely different). It's the same here, even at low speeds you've got a ridiculous amount of downforce. You also barely get any wheelspin in this, retarded grip - just like TM. The only thing it doesn't have is TM's braking, where a tap is enough to send you into a powerslide. I'm sure it can be modded out, but until then this game is fucking worthless.
I just can't take this game seriously. Had they done a F1 version of Grid I could've enjoyed it (I enjoyed GRID for what it was); GRID is by no means realistic, but the vehicles all feel different and most aspects of the different types you can really notice and are not that bad for an arcade game. The American RWD muscle cars all spin out if you go full throttle in a corner - in this game that SHOULD happen as well, but it doesn't.
I know I'm an ass when it comes to driving games, but this game is just a joke. Presents itself like a sim, yet meanwhile GRID has more realistic handling (and a much better experience altogether).

would depend on how fast the f1 car is going in a corner, you know they have "tons" of downforce right?
in f1 most corners are taken at over 100mph
Quote:
In general terms a Formula 1 car travelling at 150 mph (240-ish km/h) will generate around 1600kgs of downforce
an f1 car with driver only weights around 640kg
what does a muscle car generate at 150mph? does it generate anything? downforce isnt the same as drag either which im sure a muscle car has alot of

i only had that once it was when i turned my aa upto 8x the game ran fine but i assumed some memory error happend with the game since going back to 4xaa its been fine
i only have a 1gb card and the game was using slightly over 1g with 8xaa

What the hell?
Nope, crashes like, i'm driving, the whole screen goes black and appears a "F1_2011_Launcher had a critical error and needs to shut down" or something like that :/
It happens on loading, on races, even on the menu :/

No, but that's the whole point. With F1 cars the downforce at low speeds -and 100 KPH is low- there's barely any downforce, which is why in an F1 car you hit throttle just AFTER the apex - and you increase gradually, not full at once because you'll spin out. I was able to squeeze the 360 controller's trigger down completely before most of the apexes on the ring
In an F1 car you reach 1:1 downforce at about 120-ish I believe, 2:1 is at 190 already. At 100 you haven't even got 1:1, which means that hitting full throttle with that much horses should spin you no matter what.
I'm still right in what I said. Watch the throttle bar, it goes up STEADILY - he doesn't apply full throttle straight away. You can also hear it in how the engine revs. He applies more throttle *after* the apex like I said and he gradually increases it from there until he reaches about 120 (it's between 110 and 140 every time in that video). That's when you see throttle jump from 60% straight to 100%.
I've watched most F1 races, played just about every F1 game out there and still play LFS. You just can't possibly do it like you can in this game, with full throttle before or on the apex of a corner - I've never seen that happen, and I sure as hell can't do it in LFS nor could I in bloody GP2
Well, in F1 2011, i can't apply full throttle before the end of an apex. In some situations (maybe 30%), i lose control and have to let go of the gas..
We tried to find the culprit and experimented with the settings. To our surprise, the biggest one was the reflections as when we disabled those nasty reflections, we gained 17fps. Naturally, we’d expect such a feature to affect our GPU usage, but here is the catch; the reflections are CPU bound. There is no excuse for such behavior, and it’s really ironic to need a better CPU for a graphical setting. We can only assume that this was a console optimization, and the game was simply ported to the PC and was not optimized at all. Pretty much what happened with F1’s previous version.

So a Qxxxx will offer you similar performance to ours – provided you have overclocked it to 3.9Ghz. We tried to simulate a dualcore CPU, and the difference was only 6fps. Given the fact that F1 2011 is CPU bound, we’d expect a higher performance hit. This small difference also proves that F1 2011 is unable to take full advantage of quadcores.
I just completed Singapore GP in career, now when i try to go in game it crashes. I skip movies, press enter, then it says checking storage devices, then it says LOADING and bam it crashes to desktop wit that "blah blah stopped working...". Any idea?

Its a know game bug. Delete your files from mygames/formulaOne2011 and it will work again. Make a backup because it will happens again.
