I just checked my WoW folder and is 30.2 GB, I am not playing but still keep it.
I suppose Rage has so many GBs because the game has many open areas with modern graphics, it has sense. One example of this is GTA4.
I used to be a knee like you. Then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

How do you even find those private giveaways? I havent encountered any of them yet.

Ye the 25gbs come from the megatexture tech. Every map is like a big painting instead of lots of small blocks of textures put together. The upside? No repeating tiles of textures, the whole world is unique in every nook and cranny and whatnot.
Too bad that at only 25 gbs it kinda looks like trying to zoom in on a 32x32 pixel icon and expect it to be visible. In other words a blurry mess.
However they said something like they might release a hi-texture pack after all. You can expect that to be around 50-75gb. I think Carmack stated the original files after they were done painting in super hi res was like 1tb, then they had to cut the quality down to fit it for those noob consoles.
