Well, maybe I just had bad luck, all I know is now the 360 refuses to power the drive at all, so I probably need an external power source.

I'm not worried, but I'm also not about to wreck my machine without proper knowledge. I've used the 360 to power the drive in the past... but I'm thinking MS may have changed something to prevent it now (though what possible purpose that would serve, I just don't know)

actually... Everything should work fine out.

MONTHA AGO:
ive flashed to stock -> updated to 13599 from xbl -> Flashed to lt 1.91
So if the drive was working and powering month ago(after updating dash) and there wasnt a new dash update since then, why wouldnt it work now? Also I am not seeing anything about in on sboxscene.

I did. a few hours ago. BUT i am on 13146 dashboard.
Maybe the latest dashboard changes that? dont know.

Well I'm going to follow Adebisi' route, methinks. I'll grab 13146 online and update via USB, flash the drive to LT2.0 and then update to 13599 afterwards. Just in case it's 13599 causing the "power from 360" issue.

latest dash dint't change that. I updated to it before I flashed to 1.91 month ago and everything went fine first try

you need the ck3 now and probe after update latest update unplugging the power cable stopped working...... i had the same discussion on the jungleflasher chat and on xbox-scene forum! that was for liteons!
i might note* that was after ms reflashed our drives back..... dont know how it works after you flash ur drive back with hacked FW

i flashed my phat liteon using 360 as a power source on dash 13599 without any problems , i always flash with dosflash . I never flash my drive under windows

Ok i have a old liteon (phat) never been flashed or banned and i dont have a external power source so after i update via LIVE to latest dash i can flash it to LT 2.0 without any problems?

and I did that with no problem. Flashed 1.91 onto 13599 dash.

you have to get dvdkey first

That clearly states you need a device to RETRIEVE THE KEY, which is something we already know mate. Read further in the thread and they confirm that multiple times.. you need a device to get the KEY after the latest update. They say nothing whatsoever about "360 can't power the drive any longer" That thread has nothing to do with the power-cycling :\

OK IVE TRIED IT OUT.
IT WORKS.
This is what I have and how I did it. everything is normal.
jasper 120gb lite-on phat elite.
Month ago I updated to newest dash ad flashed to 1.91
This time I didnt even flashed to stock(why would I) and everything works fine. New jungleflasher beta and drive POWERED by console.
on the note here. i have a drive key so I am not sure how it is about retrieving key.
Erase Lite-On worked allright. Drive went into vendor mode without any problem and flashed right away.

If you don't have dummy/ANY .BIN files, but DO have the entire drivekey, it can be added into LTPlus-025-v2.0.bin via JF, right?

if you have correct dvdkey its easy just combine lt+ 2.0 and your dvdkey save the bin file and flash your drive with this bin file .
