Well, after giving it quite some time, I think this game is not for me, it's just another see you first kill you first shooter, with mouse controls still needing a lot of work. After having played some UT3 this morning, the movement just seems ... sooo ... slooooow. There's no point in trying to strafe to dodge bullets, you're still just a snail. So it's cover, shoot, sprint a bit, and be sure to see your enemy first .
Hope you guys enjoy it more than I do.

I'm more of an 1.5 k/d guy in bf games cause I play a lot as assault and constantly trying to capture flags/arm m-coms, add to that that I very rarely play as sniper. However I'm struggling with a 1.25 k/d in the beta mainly because everytime the server starts to lag I can't kill enemies anymore and start dying a lot. I get shot and see my killer like half-a-second later (not on the killcam). I'm hoping these sudden lag spikes won't be an issue in the final version  |
Look my BF3 profile up. I'm still most of the time on assault class (PumpActionWS level 5) With assault only I had a k/d of 2.9 And I still rush for the mcoms but I don't do it blindly any more

I like the gameplay very much. And the more I play it, the better it gets, because I can really see the benefits of different tactics. In the end the battlefield games were never about who has the highest kill count or about the aiming skill of a single soldier, but about team play and tactics. In CS a single player can turn the match, in BF this is basically impossible.
And even though, if the enemy sees you first, with the correct weapon and aiming, you'll still come out first. At least that is what I learned from playing in an offensive recon style

Before trying out the recon class I took a look at my k/d ratio which was 2.95 or something like that and I was happy like a little child

I played offensive recon too, that sniper just pawns ass, I racked up the kills, but only because my attack angles were right. But if I ran in to 2-3 people, I never made it out alive - sure, I killed 1 or 2 tops, but you just can't go on a rampage by crazy dodging and crazy good aiming - which is what I like in an FPS. That's why I still play tf2, if I want to get my MP FPS fix. It comes down to taste.

Hehe, tell that to the guys from two days ago I had so much luck, the round started and I had 10:0 (played defending, with the standard ak47, was on level 2 so no upgrades), by basically running to the left of the map, finish off 4 snipers, 3 assault, 2 engineer and 1 support And than a rocket out of nowhere I didn't have any bullets left either, not even in the pistol

it is the first time we see hand watch reflections in games? i like it:) i mean, i hate when someone spot me this way, but in general this thing is nice.

And you expected something different from a military shooter?
I too don't like the fact that with the coming of "nextgen" games, the fast paced shooters were basically eradicated. But I would never expect ut/quake kind of gameplay from a game like Battlefield. |
I didn't expect any better, I was just letting people know, why I wouldn't buy this, and why I don't like it.
