The "+vt_maxPPF 8 " trick on my dualcore has almost cleared the pop problem without significant change in term of quality. Exterior is great, interior and close object is shit.

Ok, here's my final method of fixing the texture poping
In rage.exe shortcut i have:

and in my RageConfig.cfg which is in /Rage/base/ i have

Remember to create this folder:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\id Software\Rage
And I have virtually no texture issues anymore. I don't use gpu transcoding as its slower than my cpu (Dual core Athlon and 8800GT)
You can check your GPU vs CPU transcoding performance by enabling GPU transcoding either by cvar or in menu then typing vt_visualBenchmark into console, then disable it and check again for difference.

no more crashes wid the old drivers drom amd think 11.9,bud than we had glistches in the game that pop up somtimes,bud atleast no more crash,so al we need are good drivers

Well fuck it, I can't remember the last time I've put this much effort into a game. No matter what I do the streaming won't work properly, it's unplayable with my HD5850.

You are absolutely certain you have installed the Rage driver right? http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU121AMDCatRagePerfDriver.aspx
Because previously you said you have "the new 11.9 drivers" which is somewhat vague.

really depends. I wouldnt pay for it. But thats me.
Game runs smooth and looks good enough (ignoring the low res textures here and there aside lol).
Gameplay is like ... well, its a LOT like Borderlands, without the leveling, without the loot (as in, you loot a lot of trash sure, but no weapons for example).
You use a LOT of ammunition in order to kill even to lowliest of bandits. I dont like that (if i shoot you in the end and you arent a boss, just die lol).
After 1h and a half you have pretty much every weapon there is, i thihnk, except the rocketlauncher (?).
Most fun for me is the driving, which is quite simplistic aswell, if thats saying aynthing ^^.
Anyway, if you dont like what i wrote , you may like the game enough to buy it

Yep I have that driver, it's a modification of the 11.9 drivers. I cleaned everything manually. I'll wait for a patch or somehing.

My game is crashing to desktop after the intro's... I have removed the base videos. I have the rage leak with the crack/ update 1. Is there another update that will fix this? I thought I saw update 2?

thats too bad. becouse it works 60fps with 2xaa 1680x1050 on my pc. But I cant stand textures. console version might have less pop up

I don't get this game's tech. I just don't. At the very beginning I had some serious troubles (screen tearing, texutre pop-up and corruption etc.). I installed the "rage performance driver" and while it helped a bit (mainly performance-wise), problems persisted. Then, I looked at the steam forums and found a tweaked cfg file. I tweaked it a bit more, personalising for my hardware. After that I created the cache folder that was supposed to exist (or at least I think it was) and it was almost good. But almost wasn't enough, so i tried fiddling some more and after addding that +vt_maxPPF 16 tweak to my already tweaked config file, the texture pop up dissapeared completely. Yet - and bear with me, because this is the funniest part - the game wasn't completely smooth, ranging from 3x-5x FPS, depending on situation (average 4x). So I thought "hell, if it ain't gonna be smooth anyway, I might as well enable some AA" (disabled before for performance reasons). I did so... and the FPS suddenly jumped to 50-60 regions, constant, usually just locked at 60. The AA is here, pop up is gone and the game is completely smooth and dandy with all bells and whistles (enabled through .cfg) and 1080p, on an old as f*ck HD 4850. I'll probably never know why.
Anyways, as for the game itself, it's quite fun but honestly nothing to brag about for seven years. It plays like Borderlands' and Stalker's bastard child. The exploration feels very borderlandish (the world is not open, only gives an illusion of freedom, there are clear hubs and quests in it - you ride your vehicle on a more or less straight path, get out, fight, ride back - sometimes fighting while riding) and so does the atmosphere (altought it's more serious), the shooting is well done but not exceptional, the story is rather generic, and the graphics are actually quite pretty, if a bit flawed due to some blurry textures. Even when they actually work, that is. Two things I probably like the most is the fun crafting/customisation which actually (to my surprise) makes up for lack of a serious RPG progression, and the way enemies act during a fight.
