Leading videogame publisher, SouthPeak Interactive Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: SOPK) and Firefly Studios have today announced that upcoming castle building strategy game Stronghold 3 will be released on PC later this summer. The release window has been pushed back to include a host of great new features that will ensure Stronghold 3 truly is the king of the castle.

“We want to make sure fans get the game they want and deserve,” said Stronghold 3’s designer Simon Bradbury. “Although some may be disappointed the game isn’t coming out as soon as they expected, we’re sure they won’t be disappointed with the new elements we’re adding to the franchise, to make this the best Stronghold yet.”

Since first launching in 2001, the Stronghold series has become one of the most respected in its genre thanks to its mix of precision village building, fast-paced real-time gameplay and dramatic sieges with hundreds of enemies swarming over castles. Stronghold 3 has a keep full of fantastic features – including night time battles, an improved multiplayer, cutting edge physics and a stunning graphics engine - which ensure old and new fans alike experience a gritty slice of medieval life.

Key Features:

* Improved building system allowing unprecedented levels of realism and intricacy in castle and village design
* Realistic physics and cutting-edge graphics bring siege warfare to life in stunning detail
* Story-driven gameplay engages players across two campaigns: combat or economic
* Dramatic nighttime sieges add a new dimension to the Stronghold franchise
* Besiege other players’ castles or defend your own in a range of action-packed online multiplayer modes
* Play through accurately re-created sieges from the pages of history. Will you succeed where others failed?

I just wish they'd do a remake of Castles. Had a blast with Castles and Castles II. Didn't like Stronghold as much for some reason.

Loved Stronghold, even got picked to beta test it. Hope this will turn out decent - with a PC exclusive they've no excuse not to make a good game.

What exactly do they mean with this though?

* Story-driven gameplay engages players across two campaigns: combat or economic

Not both at the same time, i.e. original Stronghold?

I think that's what they mean. Loved those on the original Stronghold!

Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader are epic and awesome games. The newer one was pure shit. I hope Stronghold 3 will be as epic as the old ones. The quotes from above should be there too for sentimental times

Actually, I think it was up for awhile. EDIT: There was a link awhile back on Bluesnews mentioning that it was up:

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/110283/stronghold-3-announced

But, it does have more content than it did originally. Looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be more like one and not 2.

2 was soooo shitty, I'm surprised the franchise didn't die.

Fingers crossed that this will be better.

Pre-purchase Stronghold 3 before release and receive the original Stronghold game for free to play right now! As an extra bonus, pre-purchase customers will receive an exclusive "Tower of London" map for Stronghold 3.
Tower of London - Founded in 1066, William the Conqueror built the majestic White Tower that still rises above the Thames. Even though the violent years are long gone, an aura of death and medieval torture remains.

I hope you mean 1 and Crusader with that, cause Stronghold 2 was garbage.
