I'm sad to have beat this already ( I rarely beat a game at all).
Regardless of the console Dpad style weapon/item mappings, and the berzerko mouse in menu's; i still enjoyed this console port of a game.
It was playable on my 5770 pre patched, and after the patch (which i only got to play last mission on) it was smooth as bro.
I'm actualy sad that i can't play on after last mission, would like to have finished some races & notice board missions that i missed.
So did anyone else fall through the garage lift in subway town? It happened to me twice, walk off lift while it is still lowering & you get stuck below lift, then walk into a corner and you fall through the whole world clipping, end up walking around underneath subway town looking up at it.

I think I'm almost at the end of the game, at least I was just told it's my final mission. I looked for the first time at time played...17 hours, I either suck at these games ( I'll take the soon to be posted asinine comments but i don't ) or I have been searching for things that are not there....I never run and gun these types of games, I enjoy a slower pace and if I invest monies in something (I didn't for this FTR) I usually play even slower.
Game has been fun and I had no graphics problems until I got to Subway Town. I got the shimmering AI (only static ones-moving AI were fine) and floating parts of my weapons. If a patch comes out to fix those, I will probably play thorugh again.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 all selects specific weapons so there's no need for that four slot thing, although inventory usage isn't as convenient.
(I just found that out as I decided to check the keybindings for the first time. )

You had ATI right? I heard people with ATI resolving those freezes by disableing Catylist AI.

I have a gtx260 and it was pretty good before the patch, except for the texture popups of course.
I've played around with the texture cache option, vsync and transcose ... nothing. Weird. It pauses for about 4 friggin seconds doing nothing lol.

Use the latest drivers (285.38 or what they were.) and update the Rage profile via them, this should give a better profile for the drivers to use, also make sure VSync is disabled as it'll conflict with said driver changes otherwise.
(NVIDIA forced Vsync off with that profile update, unsure if you can set it back now that it's been patched in as a option but I guess it's worth trying.)

Yah ino, and items can be used with F1-4 keys, but still gotta map the item to F key using stupid dpad interface.
And to change ammo types in weapons you either have to keep pressing number key to slowly swap ammo's, or map that weapon in the dpad thing for instant ammo change via ctrl key.
Minor annoyances, but still shows to be sloppy console port.

So AMD/ATI user, have had trouble with either freezes or bugged textures.
Depending on settings in CCC.
Tried new drives a few days back, and it was the same, any news since then?

I had constant freezing and low fps so ran it in win 98/me compatibility mode and made a custom cfg file using http://donotargue.com/cfg-makers/rage/
dropped alot of the settings to low or default now get 60fps constant and runs pretty smooth
just messed around till it got a good config

Can you put those in the cfg or do you have to bind them each time? Can you post your current content from the cfg too? I didn't read all the posts from yesterday until now.

Well, just beat it yesterday:
Spoiler: | And the end was very underwhelming.
The way that everyone was talking (in the game that is), I for sure thought that there would be more after going to Capital Prime... I completed all side quests (that I know of), all of the Stanley Express missions, all of the Job Board missions, and quite a few needless mini-games (well, you can't really "complete" the minigames, I just won a whole bunch of money, then went on about my business) and the Dice game is pretty fun, but not challenging in the least. Took me about 11hours total. Either I'm very fast at reading/listening and even faster on the draw, or I'm not that thorough (even though, after beating it, I restarted from my last checkpoint/save and went back to Wellspring/Hagar Territory to make sure that I hadn't forgotten anything.
This is the first time in quite some time that I feel completely underwhelmed by a game's ending. I can honestly say that was the most disappointing thing about the game. I thought that it looked very nice, considering that every single surface had a unique texture/artitstry applied to it. And the fact that it ran at a solid 60FPS was pretty awesome too.
I was, however, disappointed that it didn't take advantage of SLI and possibly some PhysX (yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, PhysX is for teh durrs; but I still enjoy the atmosphere that it creates. I've started a replay of Arkham Asylum (which I hadn't played with my tri-SLI rig yet), and the PhysX adds a lot of atmosphere to that (of course, it could also be the gritty Arkham Asylum that does most of that). |
To sum up:
+ + =
Hobo Zombie: TRAAAAAAAIIIINNNNNNSSSSSS
Woman Zombie: COMPLAAAAAAAIIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Englishmen Zombie: REFRAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNSSSSS
Thanks for the idea Lutz!

Some of the side quests are a bit weird as well, you clean the area out to advance the main story and then immediately a side quest pops up on those message boards prompting you to go back to this area and finish a secondary objective, bit of a funny way to re-use locations but it adds some more things to do and the locations do change a bit - in that regard grabbing all the items might be useful to try and attempt on the first visit in case any areas gets locked off when you re-visit though some items can only be found this way - technically you visit two separate maps.
(Even works for the sewers - found three so far - grab the treasure and that mission completes - starts when you enter the sewer area - and then the job board lists a new mission to go back and kill every mutant there.)
