The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the sort of game that requires top-tier voice talent to work, so Bethesda Softworks has pulled out all the stops, recruiting a cast comprised of three Academy Award nominees, several highly recognizable science fiction actors, and the wife of ZeniMax Media CEO Robert A. Altman.

Bethesda sure knows how to pull together a cast, don't they? With Skyrim featuring more than 70 different voice actors speaking more than 60,000 lines of dialogue, finding the right voice for the right role must have been a monumental task, except for maybe the role of Nord hero Gormlaith Golden-Hilt. She's voiced by Lynda Carter, the actress (and singer?) once known as TV's Wonder Woman and currently Mrs. Robert A. Altman. She's a veteran of The Elder Scrolls, having carried roles in Oblivion and Morrowind before it.

That means she scores top billing, along with the likes of Max Von Sydow, also known as Ming the Merciless. The distinguished actor will be taking on the role of Esbern, an agent of the Blades that teaches the player how to battle the evil of Alduin, the World Eater. Or Christopher Plummer, who plays a powerful Greybeard monk elder named Arngeir. They've even managed to secure Tony Award winner Joan Allen, making her video game debut as Delphine, another of the last surviving members of the Blades.

Even the "also includes" list is impressive, with Battlestar Galactica's Michael Hogan, Vladimir Kulich from The 13th Warrior, Babylon 5's Claudia Christian, and a host of other, less press release worthy voice talent.

I didn't know about the Bethesda speed run's; a tester complete's Skyrim in 2hr's 16min's.

Quote:
A Bethesda QA tester has set the early pace for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim speed runs, completing the forthcoming RPG epic in an impressive two hours and 16 minutes.

As detailed over on the Bethesda Blog, a representative from Bethesda QA - Sam Bernstein - took on a rep from the development team - Jeff Browne - in a speed run contest to celebrate the game heading off to retail.

Bernstein finished the game's main quest in a time of 2:16:10 - just 20 seconds faster than Browne. No cheats were permitted, and apparently both contestants took a different route through the game.

Bernstein's prize? A modest trophy, pictured below, and a pie of their choice baked by director Todd Howard.

The blog post was at pains to point out that it might take the average player rather longer to polish the game off - "our developers have years of experience under their belts and know all the ins and outs for speeding through the game."

The pre-release speed run face-off seems to be becoming a Bethesda tradition. In an identical contest held before Fallout 3 went out into the wild, Bernstein again pipped Browne to the prize, wrapping up the game in just 75 minutes.

Well enemies level with you, so the game wouldn't be too difficult in later areas. What you'd do is just run, ignoring all enemies, to the nearest story mission.. and continue that way. You're probably right though, it would still take several hours.
