Everytime, I play at 200% difficulty in HoMM3. Player starts with 800 and no resources and somehow AI is rocking level 7 creatures by the end of the week...go figure

It's a multiplayer game ALSO. There happens to be expansive campaigns built into the game, which is what he's talking about.

My key got revoked and I'm not going to pay full retail box price for a digital download either. Therefore it's time to do a shift + delete as I cant be arsed to start over the whole campaign. (Offline saves and Online saves are different so you cant continue your old save if you go offline.)
Well at least G2play refunded my money.

I like the game so far, although I am missing the normal town screen...

They really fucked up the gameplay big time with this one. With all the resurrecting and healing going on every battle turns into a choir to time all attacks perfect so you don't counter attack the last mob to death before you can heal. Also the huge amount of battles with small exp gains is soooo boring.
Nice to see that they didn't listen to any of the complaints during the beta...

Yep, it's not as bad with the Necro race as they get the building upgrade that allows you to re-purchase recently deceased units, but I imagine for the other races you simply cannot afford to lose many units at all - the recruitment pool is way to small.

Not only does it get boring - it fucks you over big time in the campaign. I had to restart the 3rd Necro mission as by the time I got to a certain point the enemy simply had insane numbers that I couldn't hope to match.
Looks like the recipe for success is to simply go straight for the towns/barracks, ignoring 90% of the side mobs/battles. Hell, only like 1 out of 10 items you pick up from those battles transfer over to the next mission anyway, the rest disappear into oblivion.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I do play Necro and yea that building helps out a bit but at this point in the game my money is kinda low and it's difficult to afford all new units. Also focusing 95% of the battles on managing my ghost heal + necro heal is so fucking stupid that I can't help but wonder if the persons behind this game is mentally disabled.
And yea the battles do get ridiculous at times. The enemies seems to be able to instantly rebuild heroes with huge armies which means that unless you totally crush them with minimal losses your gonna lose next week when they send their next hero at you.

absolutely agree! in one mission i camped a castle where the enemy main boss was inside, once i defeated the enemies second hero (which was also in the town) he spawnt a new one every turn. had toi used my two other heroes just do run across the map and deliver new units to my main hero to stop the opponents hero to get out of town and gather more troops, then after a quite a lot of weeks i could finally go into final battle, so stupid

I'll definitively try it out to see how it works with that unit thing, I imagine it's the same but if so it'll likely be patched to be a bit more fair.
(Unless I'm misunderstanding something.)

By the way, until AI's cheating gets patched, playing with AI allies seems to fix the problem of rapidly accumulating deadly-level armies. When I played an "everyone vs everyone" map, the only way to win was to ninja-capture AI's unprotected castles because of the insane number of creatures the enemy had at that point. However, on a "team vs team" map I mostly encountered modest and high armies. I guess the majority of the deadly ones got destroyed off-screen as I've met only one and managed to defeat it.

I took on the first necro campaign mission and froze the movement points, it's no wonder that after a few weeks some of those encounters will be very hard to accomplish due to your rather average troops since many neutral armies fields hundreds of units even at the start of the game plus of course what the AI heroes and their towns can do (And they control the settlements and mines initially.) doing fights against high-end elite or champion creatures would be very difficult (Such as the cyclops battle or the many encounters with griffins.) though no doubt the map can still be completed but it needs some planning not to mention managing units and economy.
(I don't know what rules the reinforcement system follows but the AI likely gets a number of advantages, difficulty level might control this as well to some degree seeing the custom options you can toggle.)
Also exploring the entire map can take hours what with all encounters and objectives to accomplish, it'll be a rather long game depending on the number of campaign missions.
(Seems they're very separate but maybe after beating them all it sort of ties together, seems not though or maybe they go in order but I don't know.)
EDIT: Forgot about special powers like the necromancer special ability and level up bonuses.
