FXAA and MLAA are post processing anti aliasing algorithms - it's the post processing part that bothers me. Yes, they're a cheap method, but no, they are not as good as MSAA. Just look at the difference in this video: the 360 version uses either of those. As a result, the already relatively bad textures (for the time they were fine, nowadays they're quite bad) get blurred even more. Crysis 2 is a perfect example how much worse FXAA makes bad textures look, it really does become bad^2. In a game like DS2, MLAA was absolutely brilliant (CCC forced) because the game has very defined edges. In C2 however, post processing AA will fail (just like it does in BF3; MSAA looks so much better there too) because the environment is just one big bland mess.

In short: PPAA sucks for messing with EVERYTHING rather than just messing with the things it should be messing with.

What? What you wrote makes no sense at all.

I'm telling you *I* *personally* have all 3, and your responses are buy a better system (which won't fix the poor/poop coding)/google is not an indication of how widespread is the problem (which makes no sense, since the pop in is controlled by variables, it will be identical on all computers unless you manually edit the config to higher than the Very High values and further murder your framerate)/plenty of games have that as well (so? and plenty don't).

Just like any game, there are some low-res textures. They were far from the norm though. However; I don't believe it's fair to compare the 360 version to the stock PC one. The 360 version ISN'T "stock" - it's running on a new "improved" (Laughing) engine with added "enhancements" (Laughing) -- so it's only fair for the PC version to also have those enhancements.

Compare the 360 version to the PC one with TOD/texture mods, THEN come back.

Bah,it always boils me when console gamers blame pc gamers for whining and acting all elitist snobs when,for example, a pc exclusive gets ported to consoles with extra content for free and that the fear of the sequels being dumbed down.

When in fact they do it too when it goes the other way around(but they never admit it). Didn't gears of war get extra free content on pc that was at the time still being sold on xbox live?
I remember people going berserk over that...?

Rage has green "dark interiors" because of some color correction filters.

You can easily see that by pressing escape in a green or mauve tinted area and see the colors go to normal. Press esc again to get back "ingame" and colors go to "shit" again.

So it's intended and has nothing to do with the engine or the compression quality.
