I have completed 2 XGD3 games without any issues. So I have no plans of re-burning anything, unless they fail to work. Not even remotely interested in Forza 4, so fuck that.

Hi,
Sorry for the probably noob question, but google was not my friend
I have a slim with LT 2.0 dash 12625.
The new games (gears, batman) have an update (13599 I guess).
Is it safe to update directly through the game, or there is another process?
thx

c4eva said it was safe to update either way aslong as your drive is locked. |

He should be a little bit more clear. I can only find iHAS124 and iHAS324 models, but without B added to it. I'm gonna wait for the masses to buy one before i buy one with the wrong chipset.

same here on italian e-commerce sites, the "B" is nowhere to be seen... the drives themselves are quite cheap and easy to find tho... 15/20€ + shipping.

Did you flash your drive yourself or did someone do it for you ?? the lock is the SPI lock on the drive firmware chip on the drives PCB |
I get it!
Someone did it for me...
I suppose it is, but I will check with the guy, just to be sure.
Thank you all for the help

Did this guy give you any details as to how he flashed the drive ?? did he mention Sputnik, Kamikaze or TX PCB. If he`s good as wat he does then he locked it after he flashed it cos that is wat c4eva says you must do.

B is normally just for black rather than beige (or it has been in the past).
I'm pretty sure it's this drive

According to c4eva A=NEC chipset and B=MTK and only MTK's will do.
@grimmy: the 32 version is a NEC chipset so it won't work.
if you go one click back from the link you provided you will see a LiteOn iHAS124-19 which is an MTK thus will work i assume.

From what I've read, the letter is not the color, it's the revision. Rev A is based on a NEC chipset which is NOT compatible with the firmware, rev B is based on a MTK chipset that is supported. The ones ending in -19 *should* be the good ones, but I can't be sure of the reliability of this last statement.

Has there been any more confirmation on whether you can burn 8.7GB generically ... or is it solely for XGD3 ISOs? Though I am a little disappointed with the compatible drive list. c4e said it was a "wide range" of drives, but so far it's just the same ONE drive with varying revisions based on feature set.
The iHAS654B is the same as the iHAS124B .. just that it has extraneous shit like LightScribe instead.

I am sure that in time more writers will get an custom firmware if you are patient you can also wait a bit and those probably will be Pioneer,Samsung or Nec.

Apparently Y's are old and haven't been around for awhile.
