In some cases yes. |
actually ALL games are region locked but it will only prevent you from playing multiplayer games with someone who has the game from a different region...
If you have a japanese copy of the game you can only play multiplayer with a person who also has a japanese copy of the game
the same with US copies |
so games are region locked, when I have US psp and got EU Wipeout I can play against EU psp with EU wipeout (for instance)

Heard today ...on engadget.com maybe? ... that they have a Gameboy Advance emmulator working. No sound though; and you need 1.0 version for it to work. "Screen" looks really small too. Once they get the screen size to fit the PSP a little better and the sound works that might push me off the BUY or DO NOT BUY fence. ....Ohhh and it needs to work on 1.0+
I think we are gonna see a hacked bios based off the 1.0 jap bios soon maybe. Any thoughts?

Yes, go out and buy the PSP... It is highly likely that we will see more hacking and tweaking through the hacking community...

I think I may create one when im not busy with work.. *ponders*.. I have the skill, and web development doesnt really fufill my mind |
now to further complicate things sony has released a 1.51 update for japanese model psps (stating that it fixes security issues) |
hahaha hahahhahaha

*trails off into giggles and falsetto howls*
It is quite funny that Sony should choose to release this update immediately after their precious platform was hacked. Quite funny indeed. Somebody in Sony HQ is laughing their ass off. Ironically, the very update they release will be made into an injection (and what is more, hopefully an extraction) tool for the PSP. This means that the 1.HX, "unlocked" PSP Bios is now days, hours away... all they have to do is RE the bios update to understand how it injects code, poke around the BIOS to see which bits need replacing to disable such trifles as authenticity checks, including p2p "online" checks, which I can only hope are BIOS, and replace them. They might also need to leave some code on a memory stick (an exe that bypasses on-disc or not hacked protection, for example.) But in an attempt to ward off the evil hackers, Sony has kicked itself in the ass yet again...
...then again, I'd just as soon put my money on Sony knowing this perfectly, and releasing this to be hacked, in which case protection will just be "challenging" here, and in a few days we'll see "PSP_Hacked_1.51_Bios_Injector_RLSKr3w" popping up on NG and IRC.

It's either BS, or a patch. TeamXecuter already stated that they do not intend to make a chip for PSP.

tbh they're all probably repacks and 38 rars? 5mb rars? i dont think they'd say the tools will be out soon without being 99% sure except for attention seeking which i think they are. if they are so sure of it surely these releases woulda been kept internal? i think they're just trying to cause a stir. prove me wrong please.
