Mvp- have you properly tried any of the fifa manager games before? |
No not really. I have tried a few of them, but ended up uninstalling after just a few minuttes. I expect to try the 2012 edition as well, but i fear the result will be the same.
Im so used to Football Manager, that Fifa just seems too much like a sims football edition, with your family and stuff.
Yea press conferences suck.. i had hoped they would improve, but not this year. I seem to remember SI saying that press conferences pretty much was the same in RL as well, and while they are correct, there has to be some way of improving it.

i havent tried the fm12 demo, prefer to wait for the full game.i was really hoping for a full overhaul of the press conferences but it seems not then if youve tried it.
pls tell me the player chat system has improved.it was so basic and annoying getting the same answers off your players.
is the transfer system the same as last years? as in dealing with the agents in real time?

From what i can tell the press conference system is the same, but i didnt spend a lot of time on it in my first game, and the second was, as mentioned, a test game.
Didnt get around to indivudual player chat either, but from what i've read that has been improved.
However you can call teammeetings to improve morale, and ask you players if they have something to say, or ask your captain to adress the team. Thast a neat feature.
Player negotiations have a very nice new feature, where you can lock ie. weekly wage. Lets say a player wants 8000eur, but you can only afford 7000eur, you can lock that, so the agent will start negotiating other bonuses, perhaps goal bonus, if its a striker, should they demand too much there, you can lock that as well, and the agent will start with different bonus, loyality bonus perhaps...... that feature have given me a few signings. Of course you have to be realistic, you cant offer him 1000eur and expect him to start negotiating bonuses, that will just end the negotiations.

ive never tried the unemployment option..always picked a league two side from england.
i dont fully understand the removal/adding of leagues etc.how would this work regarding job offers?
i take it you must have the league running to be offered a job there,so if thats the case..why would you add a new league or remove one...is it just to give the option and thats it??

Lets say you are playing Greek league. For first couple of seasons you are doing great, but you want to move to bigger league so just enable Italian and Spanish leagues. You get an offer from Italian league and move there. Then you can disable Greek and Spanish league.
Now if you have a super comp, you can have a lot of leagues enabled from the start and you don't need to bother with this, but I think this option will prove very useful for anyone with mid range to low end machines.

to be fair,i have played them all going way back to the original CM series on the amiga and i must say that with each year, for me,it does appear to be getting easier.
for example,i want to start with my team, man city, but i know it would be too easy so i force myself to start in the lower leagues.
this year i will make an attempt to try out fifa manager 12. |
A fellow city fan
The last few years it has been quite boring being city, at least boring after a few seasons, I never play more than 3-4.
It was really fun back when Vassell was at city, he was a BEAST, not statwise, but his pace made him an incredible effective striker. Barton and Reyna as boss midfielders. Good times.

my fave will always be CM 01/02 for the amount of hours put into it despite lack of gfx...after that FM07 was pure class too.
dont get me wrong i do love the new FM's but they dont seem to grab me as much as the older ones.

Hard to remember them all, but I think I particulary enjoyed the older ones(cm), and fm 07 - because of a skin which was insanely good looking.
Ah well fm12 will do quite a good job I reckon, but it will never be the same as earlier. Maybe its just because the game changes so little over the years and its basically the same, so you are bound to not enjoy it as much.
The cheapest I've seen it for is 30 dollars, any better offers out there ?

Old CMs before CM 4 were the best for me also. With CM 4 came new game engine and It took them a long time to perfect match engine and iron out some serious bugs, so I lost interest in them for a while.

I like most of the new features in the newer FM games, but for some reason the cm/beginning of fm was the games i have spend the most time on

ok,i tried out Fifa Manager 12 and just cant get into it at all.im just seeing things as gimmicky and pointless.Yes,it looks the part and maybe more "alive" than FM but its not for me.
maybe its too many years being addicted to CM/FM and the way the game works that is stopping me from getting into fifa manager.

I can only speak for myself but i also played CM/FM alot more during the end of the CM-age and in the begining of FM. But for me that is 100% tied to the fact that i've now ended my long unenployment period and have a job and therefore have alot less time to spend on the game.
You grow up and as a sideeffect life takes over in various ways reducing the time you have to spend on stuff like FM for example.
FM is getting better and better but i hope they fix the youth development in FM12. As a Swede i play mostly in Sweden and in an attemt to balance the game now that the leagues have dynamic reputations they have messed with the youth development (the newgens). Basically if you play a longer game the Swedish players turn to crap after a while and you are forced to use imports to stay competetive. It's very unrealistic.
