fuck the industry man. no co-op? again?! there is blatant demand for it, so wtf is the problem? if developers actually listened to gamers rather than produce yet another fps that is exactly the same as the previous... co-op, imo, is a serious buying decision when looking at a game.

and only co-op for doom3 on the xbox??!! just dont get me friggin started.... Sad

well the fucked up part about it is a game being in development for over 2 yrs, then when it is entering the homestretch of the dev cycle(within 6 mos. of release hopefully), suddenly the devs decide to dash ppl's hopes of features promised from the beginning. Also I am tired of this "maybe it will come in an add-on" BS. because that is all it is. They are trying to save face in the public eye, but all it does is drag on hope a little bit longer while they all realize there is no possibility of the company spending precious $$$ on them developing a free feature post-release. If this was not a line of BS, then we would have a Mafia Co-op, Oni Co-op, Halo for PC Co-op, Far Cry Co-op and many others. The only game i can remember that ever delivered was System Shock 2 which was buggy as hell, something like a year after release, and not worth the effort. Dev's/PR people should be held to their promises and not prolong the feeling of being "let down" by making these statements they never plan to make good on.

no way, Halo was hyped for years and it was almost perfect.
And I'm pretty damn sure Doom 3 is gonna rock. On the Xbox too thanks to the Coop. (I love coop mode!!!)

Maybe that's true for kids then, because Halo was an utter kiddie-game.

Halo was far from perfect, but it did rock the house.

We've already been through the Halo argument 100 times on these boards though, so please drop it. :\

Halo was rather good when it was first released, and as an Xbox game.

But it was still FAR from perfect.

Seems to me the whole "no coop at release" thing is simply a market reaction (and a time reaction). It's a fact that more people want to blindly blow each other away than to work together for a common goal. It's been that way since like Doom II. Human instinct has never, ever really stayed in "coop" mode for very long... ya gotta whup the other guy or be whupped. Plain n simple.

Personally, I love coop if the game is a tough one to beat in SP. Like that other guy next to you is giving you the edge and not looking to slice your throat at the next dark hall. But others could care less... it's a well known fact that the younger and/or MP crowd buys games and never even touches the SP portion of it. The smaller, older crowd tends to lean towards the SP gaming experience (guess we're used to the old days when Multiplayer wasn't around or you physically had to have someone over hotseating or holding another joystick). Two flavors, but the large "there's no challenge if there's not a human behind the enemy" (and sadly some of them are the "omg i pwn every1") crowd will always win out because they make up more than 50 percent of the market. You can probably expect that to change in about 10 years when the Pentium 1 teenage generation starts to hit 30 and 40 Smile.

Guess we'll have to wait until coop becomes a mod. It's really a sad thing, watching coop go down the drain. They say two heads are better than one, but society now seems to think two brains splattered by each other's rocket launchers is better /shrug. To each his own.

DVD ROM edition is good, I will like this game because I know the developers don't PLAN to drop coop and vehicles in MP, its only a thing they must do to get it out the door.

If it runs good and plays good and doesn't suffer the massive bugs that soldner has (i know there different games) then it wil be awesome.

The mod community if not PATCHES will bring the bonus coop and vehicles in mp later without a doubt.

I will for sure buy this game, if it has the quality it has been hyping about all this time.

fenris.. Well guess that just shows that stalker is very close to finish unless thats just publishing demos (no software just boxwork & cdstamp demoing)

i think they didnt want to miss another deadline so they drop a couple of stuff so they could work on it and call it a "patch" instead of pushing the date further in the calendar

I didn't even knew it was suposed to have coop, but this would have been the feature making a great difference. We don't need another deathmatch game at all, give us some coop. Don't developpers listen to the end users dammit? For years I read comments about gamers who want more damn coop modes in their games, the success from Halo and 50% of the fun with it was because of the coop mode. I remember my friends telling how cool it was too shoot and drive with a buddy etc... This is a very stupid move from them to remove this option IMO.

I also don't, thave much expectations from this game, someone talked about Operation Outbreak, well, it look and feel very similar in many regards. Especially the feeling of emtyness, this could be a pretty game with lame AI and boring levels once you killed everyone just like Operation Outbreak was. And then again, the only good thing about Operation Otbreak was the coop mode!

New Q&A's:

http://stalker.myexp.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=684

Quote=
GM: Is it possible to die from alcohol overdose, or will the stalker automatically fall asleep after the n-th bottle?
GSC: Our stalker is a man of true Slavic origin, and therefore cannot die from alcohol overdose. No such dose has been invented (except if he drowns). What will happen if he drinks too much? As in real life - fall asleep.

lol Very Happy
