Don't think either BF or CoD are particularly good games, they both have many and different weaknesses, but it's kinda funny to see how BF players somehow think 'their' game requires more skill. In BF chance and luck actually plays a much bigger role because of a higher number of players and all the explosive and vehicle stuff, and camping, launchers-on-people, sniper-teams, etc. are all regular occurrences even with dedicated servers.

@garus, how did you find my childhood picture?
@tonizito, lol BF3 pubs are easy compared to actual CoD clanwars. Atleast that's my observation from the beta play i did.

The difference as I see it is that in CoD you need better twitch reflexes whereas in BF3 you need to play more intelligently. There's simply more options in BF3 and more strategies to exploit. In CoD it's more limited and all you really need is a good aim. Neither game is realistic although I think BF3 is a lot more realistic than CoD. To me CoD feels like a FPS game. BF2BC2 felt like a wargame and from what I've seen of BF3 I got the same feeling there: War.
I miss the old Rainbow Six games. You had one life and if you died you had to wait for the next match. That made people think more about their strategies in RS. They didn't run around spraying bullets everywhere. In fact if you ran around like a tard your aim would be terrible, like it should be. One bullet often killed you or at the least seriously hindered you. If you didn't use your brain you would generally suck. A soldiers best asset isn't his gun it's his brain. I loved Rainbow Six but I don't really want them to make another one because I know what Ubisoft will do to it. It will just be another CoD clone anyway.
I find it strange that instead of making all these CoD clones no developer seize the opportunity to fill the big gap in the intelligent shooter market. The semi-realistic military shooter niche. Something between ARMA and BF3 if you like. ARMA is just too clunky and unoptimized for any good competitive multiplayer mayhem in my opinion.

Yeah, I can agree with that. And I do enjoy both games, at least in hardcore mode. CoD because it's kinda reminiscent of good old CS and I've always liked twitch shooters as long as the shooting/aiming/moving is done well. BF because it has pretty awesome sniping, huge and interesting maps( compared to most other games, that is) and the 'war' feel you describe. It's also very rewarding to play with a good squad, though that's kinda rare.
But yeah, the old RB6 games were great, even if the AI's aimbot was a bit too good much of the time. What I really liked about it was the planning stage though, seeing your carefully put together plan working flawlessly was awesome.
As for why we're not seeing something more ARMA-like, it might just simply be technical limitations. Fitting something like that on a PC is difficult enough( huge amounts of RAM needed), fitting it on consoles is probably next to impossible without taking out half of what makes it what it is.

The most balanced game...in the same sentece with "you become a super soldier" .
Yeppers sir
Also whats up with the :
- sounds, those dont sound like weapons being fired
- Color style, they went for a more muted color patern, its really weird
- The weapon feedback feels weird,i mean from the things you hear and how the gun reacts,it janks all over the place like it has the willies
Could they atleast change the anouncer sounds, goddammit activision
