I have finally took the step back from consoles to PC gaming..can anyone tell me whats the best way of installing a game? is it still alcohol or daemon tools? cheers

Full CD/DVD cloned images with copy protection inside it, which required a tool capable to emulate that protection, are not popular for many years. All games now are fully cracked (either because they use some online activation method, or because crackers got used to SecuROM and Steam protection) and are packed into simple ISOs mountable with just about everything.
I recommend Virtual CloneDrive, it is small and light, you can mount by right clicking on drive in My Computer, and supports several formats. Latest Daemon Tool Lite is also OK, its interface is slow shit tho, but you can now install it without that SPTD driver which cripples physical DVD reading speed on some systems. Avoid other programs.

I just use DTLite and have .iso files (and .mdf/.mds) associated with it. Double click iso, fuck the interface, don't need it
