How you do you get passed the first room in the demo ?
I see some documents in a corner but can't pick them up.

The demo works now. I thought the area51_demo_fp.exe was just a self-extracting archive but it was an installer. I didn't run it - I extracted it myself with WinRAR. That screwed everything up.
The game doesn't use the Unreal engine. And the graphics that I saw in the demo were far from Pariah's quality. It almost looked like a DirectX 6 game. I hope there are some parts in the full game which look better.

You don't pick up those documents, you just scan them. Stand close to them, press 1, then hold your mouse button. You can read the document later on from the main menu.
I guess you passed that first room by now, but if not, there is a computer right ahead spawn position. Walk to it and press TAB when you see that little circle in the air turn green.
Anyway I just installed the demo, and finished it in 15min. I was wondering why the f*** it was so big (700MB)??? Textures are blurry, sounds are weak, almost no music.. Bah, I'll probably leech this later on when it's released but game is just another average FPS...

Seems like a lot of FPS are just average games lately (or worse), that's what makes waiting for BF2 CoD2 and the like worth the wait.
I am still downloading the demo right now so I can decide for myself what the game is all about as this sight, lately, has some good reviews and yet some ""this game is crap" reviews as well.
If there is a demo, I d-load, that way I save bandwidth later if the demo was truly "crap"...

Demo didn't even load for me. I installed it and clicked on the shortcut and it gets busy for a couple of seconds and just sits there. I wonder if the full demo will do the same thing.

Yup just an average FPS, nothing mindblowing and graphics aren't even close to todays standards.............now to uninstall.............

haha, happened to me, that with uninstall message too...
i uninstalled it like this:
Start->Run->cmd.exe
cd "area51 dir"
unwise.exe /u install.log
It will start uninstallation and it will write Evil Genious instead Area 51 everywhere in uninstaller, LOL (???) Hope this helps, enjoy!

I played the demo again today and I noticed something funny. Did you see the computer keyboards?? They are so ugly and simplistic - it's ridiculous for a game in the year 2005! It's just a rectangle object with numbers and the alphabet written on it. The graphics of this game remind me of Half-Life 1 but I guess I will download and play it when it's cracked. Maybe it's fun for a few hours. I've heard it's short.

oh well unlike sc chaos theory this game is really not worth buying. if you really want to play it rent it for ps2 or xbox.
