yeah I agree.. I don't mind piracy when you use it to demo games or when you just can't afford them anyway.. but scamming to steal legit keys... goes too far imo

Sure, scam a key if you can't be bothered/afford buying it, that's not much different from piracy, but what's up with the stupid 'scam for key then sell it' thing? That's just low, and it's people like that who end up messing things up for the rest of us, since next time they'll be far more strict with that stuff. Go get a proper job instead, if you need cash.

Indeed, people scamming keys like this is pretty shitty. The abuse of this means in the future EA won't be bothered to give anyone shit. Even those that had legit problems and diserve real compensation. Thanks for fucking it over for those with a real need.

Yup. Now I feel the consequences. I'm actually pretty angry at those who have apparently been scamming keys because now they don't fucking believe me while my key legitimately does not work. I've tried four times now. I give up.

Anyone else pissed that you have an extremely limited choice on the engineer's launchers?
I keep forgetting that the SMAW makes that arch and if you're on the US side you're pretty much stuck with it as far as non auto-targeting launchers go.

Have you tried to talk with the store who sold you the key?

This. Always go back to the shop that sold the key. They sold you an invalid key. You did your part of the deal (paying), they didn't. It would be nice if EA fixed the problem, but it's the shop's responsibility in the end, not EA's. And I can't imagine a shop that wants bad publicity because of selling invalid keys, unless they wanted to scam you (and others) anyway.

Yeah - local Bart Smit shop. They do not give refunds and for some reason do not replace CD Keys or games because of, well, scamming. They tell me to contact EA, EA tells me to contact local shop because of the scammers.
So if anybody has some hints or tips or legal advice, that'd be very helpful.

Best thing I can suggest is to either take a laptop in to the store (if you've got one you can borrow), log-in to Origin and show them the invalid key error. Or, if you don't have access to a laptop, log-in to Origin, make sure you have some sort of personalised thing on the screen (MSN name or something, to prove it's you) take a screenshot of the error, print it out, and march into the store and not take No for an answer. Ask to see the manager or something, and show them your print-out. They've taken your money, it's their responsibility to either give a refund, or give you a legit key.

According to Dutch law, it's easy: you paid for a malfunctioning product and Bart Smit should replace the product. They cannot hide behind their own term. They shall abide the law. They sold you the game (not EA), so they must solve your problem. In such a case, I always go on a busy day back to the shop to get a replacement. If there is not a supervisor in the shop, just ask the employee to call a supervisor. In a busy store, you get things easier done than on a monday morning. Also, bring a letter in which you point out your rights and their obligations. Hand it over and write down the name of the employee. Come back a few days later when there are other people at work and try again.
If it doesn't work out you should file a complaint (http://www.bartsmit.com/customerService/conditions.php#2m). The final step is to file the case for a board that judges these kind of consumerrightscases. You can see the steps to take at http://www.degeschillencommissie.nl/home. I hope your problem gets solved soon and yeah, those scams ruined it for you, sadly.

Thanks Drammurt and Tonizito, I'll try! If it doesn't work I'll just buy a Russian key or something.
