Hey guys, I have had my XBOX360 on the shelf for awhile and am now wondering what I need to do to it to keep up with the latest stuff getting out. I know my XBOX is pre-Jasper, it has been modded with some fans and hasn't suffered a RROD (yet). Its DVD has been modded but whenever I have burnt a game I have been needing to modify the iso to Wave2 for it to work with the console, so it's probably an old version of the fix.
So my question is:
What do I need to do to get up to date with things? Best case scenario would be ofc. to just play from an external HDD via USB, but I am not one for soldering so I'd be fine with just how to fix the DVD if that is at all possible.

P.S. Last time I upgraded the XBOX-firmware was around when Dragon Age II was released.
Should be able to find most of what you need at jungleflasher.net. You have to burn your games a different way now because of the XGD3 format and I think there's no firmware to support those burns if you're on hitachi. I'm not 100% on that but I know there is a proper firmware for a Samsung.
I think all 360's can be jtagged now but I believe they're working out the software side of things. I haven't been keeping up with that either.

The problem I'm having is that if I update to the latest firmware my DVD will be reflashed, but as far as I know if I don't, I won't be able to play the newer games - is that right?
Aye, that's about the gist of it. So what you need to do is get the key from your drive (even easier if you still have your old .BIN dumps from when you flashed last time) and create the new LT2.0 FW. Update to the latest dash, then simply flash the new LT2.0 afterwards.

That's the thing, I didn't flash it the last time, I let a store do it due to the fact that you need some special damn VIA-chipset mobo or card to flash it (which I do not have).
So I guess I'm gonna have to get such a card OR let the store do the upgrade for me again, in which case I might as well have them install the glitch or the xk3y (question is, in terms of longevity which is better?)
RGH is by far the best. If your box is a pre-Jasper then it's either a Falcon, Xenon or Zephyr. The RGH won't work with a Xenon because there's no HDMI/HANA chip on those. Falcon weren't supported originally - main reason for that was that gligli didn't had a Falcon to test it - but I don't know if that has changed or not.
The x360key ODD is overpriced but very easy to install - as long as you have your drive key:
But that's more expensive than the RGH, witch has all that and more(XBLA+DLC). So going with the x360key you'd pay more for an inferior hack.
Long story short, if your box has HDMI then you should be good to go for RGH, in witch case you should go with that.

Yes, I do have a HDMI-output, so it should work then? Sweet. I guess I'll be heading over to that store to have them install a glitch hack for me. My XBOX is banned so I don't care about online (MP is all PC in my world anyways).
Yup, you're pretty much good to go, just take it to the modder and enjoy the "no more fucking around with DVDs" and full on XBLA/DLC goodness.
Well in case you ever want to do a multi match/coop on your xbox, know that JTAG and RGH are instant ban on XBL so don't even bother. You can always try Xlink or XBS for multiplayer, if you ever feel like playing with a friend or just fuck around in multiplayer coop or otherwise. That's just for games with System Link though, so it's not a very long list. :/

Yeah my XBOX is already banned from XBOX-Live, it doesn't really matter as I use the console for local gaming only, not a big fan of MP on the XBOX, and the whole idea of paying to play MP never appealed to me, so being banned is just fine and dandy.
Alright, gonna bring my xbox with me to work and turn it in to be glitch hacked tomorrow.
