But, let's comapre CS or CSS with COD. CS CSS generally has a lower game speed. You are more stationary more of the time. Now this happens because of the way the shooting works and the damage model works. So a way to control game speed is with weapon accuracy/recoil control and damage model.
CS/CSS are on the slow side. COD 1 was much like it. There was no sprint and a mp44, or kar/mosin shot to the head would kill you.
Now what happened with COD4 was the importance of a hs dropped, much like you said. But the game speed increased. So again damage model and weapon behaviour forces the speed of the game to increase.
But because of this you cant say it became easier to kill or easier to aim. You still need to aim for the head, since a body shot is 3 AK47 shots, while a HS reduces that number by 1. So you still need good aim to actually be any good.
ANd because of the increased game speed, tactics have to be a lot more dynamic and you have to adjust more often.
As for the weapons you have, true. You have to consider weapons in q3a or ut, while in cod you are stuck with basically a primary weapon.

COD is a game that's really easy to pick up and get the basics, but it's difficult to master. I mean to start playing cod is a lot easier than for someone to start playing Quake Live. I mean if I go and play Quake Live I will get utterly demolished. And I won't have much of a clue as to why.
COD on the otherhand actually allows you to understand where you are weak and what you need to improve. |
My GF is waiting for me to get some hose work done, so I'll just write two things as a response.
First, I think we're having a mighty fine discussion going here, and as far as I'm concerned, to me this is not a "my game is better than your game, nub" type of discussion - I know it isn't that to you either - I'm just sharing my opinion, and enjoy reading yours.
Second, I'll give you that it's easier to pinpoint, understand, and correct what you are doing wrong in a CoD game, and this is in fact good for people, who are not of the hardcore type(people with lives for example) - but imho, this is just another consequence of the game's systems being less complex.
I'll be back later to respond to the other parts. NFOHUMP is better than gaming today!

COD4 was a great game and i enjoyed playing it in the ESL.eu (with cw mods, so most the unlocks and perks werent accessible). The game was entertaining and competitive. The maps were big (quite big for a "infantry" FPS).
then everything went terribly wrong ...

smells like typical activision calculated cut backs to maximize profits.
"3d is not wide spread yet, and only a very small part of our moneybags .. ehm .. clients actually use it. The cost involved to add 3d would actually cost us more than what we would get from projected sales (of people who buy a game only because it has 3d).
thats how they work no ?

So you guys think that buying key only from key selling sites is safe? I always buy the keys there and never had problems, all games worked great. But is it true that they can block keys bought for "lower price" and "not from store"?

isnt that what happened with mw2 and (or ?) BO ? thousands of disabled keys ?
wouldnt worry tho, if you buy from a trusted place, they will refund you. So not that big of a risk.

Problem is even on key selling sites the price for EU versin is 35EUR +, so i guess ill just buy download version from http://game.gamesplanet.com/ its few euros more expensive but safe (i guess since its normal game store).

BF3 thread is so big because all of the Beta's, Alpha's, different type and versions of the game, way too many different places to buy it on different (actually low) prices and etc. Also the thread is back from 2007 ... so basicly more than 250 pages of the thread are useless coments on system reqs, pc hardware and the stuff i said above.
