Finally took a break from Uncharted 3 and Skyward Sword and started into Skyrim today. Man, just got the first Dragonborn shout and my impressions are quite high. Dunno what the deal is w/ the gfx, they may not be "next-gen" but they don't look any worse than any other sandbox games out there. I also don't really have a problem with the UI. It's not as good as the UI from Dragon Age 1, but its easy to sort your inventory and select the equipment with the best stats. The compass also seems to work okay, it always seems to get me to my location. Only real disappointment is that the companions don't have personal side quests like the ones in New Vegas. Otherwise, my GOTY is prob gonna come down to DX or Skyward Sword or Skyrim. Smile

Just finished Dark Brotherhood's "storyline".

All I can say is <333333333333333333333333333333333.

And there really are endless quests btw. You basically are given an order to kill everytime you finish your previous killing quest. Very Happy

OMFG?! What's going on? (Got new Hardware btw, just a sidenote)

Everytime I go into the Cave in Knifepoint Ridge, for a Companion Quest, I get random system lock up after a while in there. (Picture freezes and distorded sound plays. Can't do shit except shut PC off or restart button).

Since I can play fine if I'm not going in there, my guess it's the game. At least I hope so.

Allright, it's my Hardware. I get this lock-up with BF3 too. Anyways, my Windows didn't even boot up anymore after I posten the above. I removed 1 of my G.Skill RAMs and it still didn't boot up. Then I removed the other one and everything works (so far, could be totally random now). First time I've seen a broken RAM causing total system lock ups. Is this even possible?

Maybe my Skyrim sessions killed it. At least I hope so since RAM is the least of a problem.

Is there a way to make the game save my key bindings? Every time I restart I need to change them again.

still imagine the game having dx11 teselation on the rox and high res textures and realistic water , it would have just made it perfect.

Now i hope nvidia doesnt pull a crysis 2 on us and fucks ati card owners over bye sponsoring bethesda a dx11 anal workover Sad

Deals like that are done before release, so you've nothing to worry about. I wouldn't mind such a patch at all tho. Smug

Just read this on the bethesda forums. Can anyone confirm if this is true. I'm currently at work and unable to do it.

Code:
To cut straight to the point: There is a problem with Skyrim's built in AA/Anisropic Filtering which can result in far lower than expected framerates and poor/no animation on foliage.

This is resolved by disabling these options in the game's configuration settings and instead using your graphics card's driver settings to achieve these effects.

I am running an i7 920 CPU at default speeds and two Nvidia GTX 285's in SLI at default speeds and am able to run Skyrim at 1920x1200 resolution on Ultra settings with everything maxed out and 8X AA and 16X AF with additional ini. file tweaks further enhancing the graphics and the game runs smooth as butter with high framerates at all times, no lag or stuttering ever.
Might be right and I'd love to test it... if I could force any kind of AA from the CCC. Sad

Use RadeonPro for that. Works fine here.

Well, this is just pissing me off. I can't pickup objects like books or drop anything from my inventory because the e key isn't doing what it's supposed to.

It was working fine until I applied that piece of shit repack update.

Thanks.

Did you see any difference versus launcher AA? Considering your system you probably didn't even try it.

I have a 6950 with unlocked cores running @ 890/1300, Core i5 750 @ 3.8GHz, 8GB RAM. Not that different from yours (if I remember correctly).

The only thing Ive run into that has pissed me off (besides the sometimes clunky UI) is that they removed the icons on your HUD that told you if you were poisoned/on fire/whatever and also how long you have till it ends. You have to go to the magic menu and look at active effects. STUPID.

Same here... this morning when i woke up i was allmost puking allready.... for sure the many of hours in this game had to do with this. Im taking a break now for at least 12 hours... lol

You might consider playing at a higher FOV and also increasing your FPS (if not already) to ~60. That should reduce or eliminate the nausea that creeps up.

edit: at least 90. 100 is better for first person mode.

yeh i defo agree with upscaling the fov it's stock at 70 which is nice on a console but gives nausea when you got a 27" setup

btw for the person having issues with his memory try doing a memtest86 and see if the modules are trully fubar if not try slotting them into another slot on the mobo that fixed my issues on my older I7 920 (which is my 2nd Pc)

That IS great news. I hope publishers & developers take note here that Skyrim is a huge step in the right direction and what we want to buy (except of course the derp UI).

Well, a few pages back there was a link to this and after turning off it's sharpening (yuck!) I think it gives a nice performance boost over the game's AA. I haven't done a FPS test yet though.

Also, using Bandicam to cap the FPS to 60 removed the first person vertical mouse camera stutter.

Then, adding fMouseHeadingYScale and fMouseHeadingXScale to Skyrim.ini and I'm set nicely here. Also using the noses fix.

Using a 5870, q9550 at 3.6ghz and IMO the game is very GPU bound because none of my CPU cores go over %50 utilization.

Omg I've been playing non stop since the Australia release, with short breaks for sleeping and eating. I continue to be blown away. So far it's far better than Oblivion or even Morrowind IMO. Exploring the wilds can be super rewarding. I've found some *really* neat stuff in out of the way places. I've been meaning to get back on the main questline today but my last 14 hours or so have consisted of me getting sidetracked on various escapades.
