regarding houses:

Is there more than one house to buy?
I only bought the one in the first city and even if it feels nice and warm, its a bit small for a hero Wink
In Oblivion there was in every big city a house to buy, some were _very_ expensive.

In whiterun it costs 5000 (i think you can buy one earlier for 1000 ?) , in windhelm 12000 (capital of the rebellion i guess, and solitude is imperial capital ?) with each "addon" costing another 1000) I think you can buy a house in every cite from the "steward" (guy helping the lord/jarl).

Weeeeee!! I finally stopped ignoring Block and put some perks into it... now at least I can drain 50% elemental damage, so those frost mages aren't TOO impossible. Still aggravating fuckers, just a little bit more manageable now. Still looking for a paralyse spell though Laughing

You could try getting the Atronach stone (+50% magicka absorb, 50% magicka regen).
It's near Mzulft on the eastern side of Skyrim.
If you're a breton and have the Atronach stone, together with Dragonskin (+50% magicka absorb) you absorb ALL magicka lol.
You can beat Dragonpriests (Krosis etc) while receiving NO damage for 60 seconds.

Any halp for popping/draw distance .ini tweaks? :/

Nobody seems to give a shit Laughing

So, here is how my shadows look like after .ini tweaking:

And here is to demonstrate the popping/bad landscapes:

From far, the area just under the mountain:
http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/650997180332238806/FCE0801FCE4C664D6C45049EC582C6A6D21655E9/

Close up:

And its just pops up when I get to the desired distance, not shaping as I get close. And that really bothers me.

Yes, absolutely... BUT! There's no reason to not take both, they're not mutually exclusive. It's far, far easier to level smithing though as enchanting requires soul gems which are expensive and rare.

I dont think so, because the Enchanting skill raises not only by using soul gems, but also by destroying magic items to learn their enchanting. And you find lots of magic items you are not going to use. So better destroy them to raise the Enchanting skill.
On the other hand, Smithing requires always ore and rare ores are not that easy to find.

(i dont usually have drops in fps, but one time i really had low fps in some palace and alt tabbing did the trick).

Except that Bethesda went into retardo mode with smithing skill-ups - you get exactly the same amount from crafting leather bracers / iron daggers than you'd get from, say, daedric armor. So just buy all the leather/leather strips and iron ore/ingots from every vendor and you'll be 100 skill in no time. You'll never need the rare ores except for the stuff you want to use/sell.

Leveling smithing is extremely easy using iron + leather + leather strips.
All you need is around 10000-15000 gold and you can just city hop while buying those 3 items from merchants.
Then proceed by crafting Iron daggers and Hide/Leather braces.

Give it about 1-2 hours and you're lvl100 smithing.

If you so desire, you can level smithing without spending a single gold coin on it. Just hunt animals for their hides.

Speaking of which, they really did a good job on hunting as well. Just the right amount of challenge, since the animals can spot you from a decent distance.

Do you get anything from owning a house? I use my room as the guild master of the companions. I store all my loot there which works quite nice.
Been thinking of getting a house but woundering if its only a vanity thing? Maybe you need one if you marry??

Ahhh.... THANKS for that info.
I agree ... thats really stupid design - I expected that you can acheive higher skill levels only by using high level crafting mechanics with rare ores.
I wonder if you can get to level 100 destruction magic only by using the smallest fire damage spell, too, then.... Rolling Eyes

Yes, you can, just like you can level melee skills with an iron dagger.

Only thing that changes as skills level up is how long it takes to get the next level.

Being forced to use higher level gear would be ass.

Were you supposed to collect something there? Last cave I was in didn't mark as 'cleared' until I picked the artifact I was supposed to get from there.

I had to activate some tree. It's a lot farther off of Whiterun. There were a man and woman living there. Once I had activated the tree, some green-leafed creature started showing, which were hostile.
