Yep it was on sale at 219,99$ and i just couldn't resist. I was looking for a budget monitor in the 150$-180 range to go with my new system and was torn between a 23" Samsung and a 24" LG mode; until...i saw the Dell reduced by 100$ on their site. I decided to pull the trigger even though it was a bit over my budget.

I've heard good things about the U2311H so i bought this updated model mostly out of reputation of it's predecessor but i'm worried a bit about the 8ms response time. I've always had 5ms and 2ms monitors TN panels so i wonder if making the jump to e-IPS and 8ms will be noticeable ?

Any of you folks have this (or the U23 or 24" model) monitor ?

I've been thinking about getting it myself. Heard only good things about it's predecessor 2311H I think. generally speaking 2312HM should be the same except for the LED panel. Going from TN to IPS is supposed to be very noticeable color reproduction wise. As for the 5ms to whatever ms stuff, it hardly means anything today as every manufacturer measures it differently...and obviously so that it would look lower on the box, for the PR. From what I've read, this particular monitor is fast enough. FlatpanelsHD recommend it for gaming (http://www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=1229341472) which should be enough Smile

i7 6700k @ 4.4 GHZ, 2060s, 16 GB RAM, SSD, Windows 10x64.

8ms on IPS works differently than it does on TN.

I've run some input lag tests on my two monitors: Eizo FS2332 (IPS, 6ms) and LG W2253V (TN, 2ms). No difference, both less than 1 frame. I also didn't notice any ghosting on my Eizo so far.

Received my monitor today and.....after some calibration i can say that this is by far the best monitor i owned since my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930sb trinitron monitor back in 2004. I don't think anything will beat the 930sb but the U2312H is by far above all the other TN panels (mostly sAMSUNG) i owned since then.

Great colors and vieweing angles , sharp picture and noticed no ghosting at all in games. e-IPS does make a difference vs TN when it come to colors. My only grip would be that the DVI port is a bit close to the stand for my tastes but that's very very minor issues. Other than that i'd give a solid 9/10 to the monitor. For 219$ (on sale)you simply can't go wrong with this screen.

I'm looking at Dell monitor U2412M but that e-IPS is the issue. I mean, it still is IPS and is kicking ass the TN panel, but it still is e - economic...

The 'real' IPS panels (h, p) are (on the reviews) better. Way better than e-IPS, but the cost is also significantly higher :\

Well e-IPS ain't a true 8 bit panel but it still destroy TN panels in every way possible. Yeah the true IPS panels are better but kike you said they are also more expensive. Personally e-IPS satisfy me for my needs (mostly gaming and movies) but it depends on your needs. If you have the budget for a true IPS you should probably look at the higher end NEC , Eizo ect monitors but if like me you are limited in the amount of $$$ to spend and want to get away from TN panels then the Dell U2312/U24 are great options imho.

Personally as a general rule i'm not spending more than 300-350$ max on a PC monitor. If i want to invest higher i'd just look at 120hz 42" or more TVs Smile
