Thanks for this. I got a key as well. Do you happen to know which test this is for? Is it for this weekend? Or sometime in the future?

Well now that the NDA has been lifted...
I played for a bit this past weekend. I only got a Sith Warrior up to level 6, as Skyrim took preference. The questing in this MMO is second to none, as the voiced NPCs, dialogue choices (fairly irrelevant but they're there) and light side / dark side choices add some depth to the usual kill this / fetch that. Although...light side points for Sith? Blasphemy. Anyway, that part of the game seems cool and it seems more involving to listen to the NPC talk about what they need rather than reading it, and most people skip the quest text (I am one of them). While dialogue is skippable, I didn't feel the need to, so I'm taking that as positive.
The combat is pretty smooth. As a Sith Warrior by level 6 I already had a good bit of abilities. There was a buff, a stance (really another buff), an ability that generates rage that you really spam mostly as there is no auto attack, and several abilities that spend rage, single target or aoe. There is also an ability that is something like a charge/heroic leap combo from those familiar with WoW's warrior that has quite a long range and is fun to use, and another ability that only opens up after..forgot what it was, something like an ability you can use after you dodge/parry. Overall I didn't find the combat to be immediately disappointing like I do with most MMOs. If WoW has done anything right it is the smoothness of the engine when it comes to combat, and it puts 99% of other MMOs out there to shame in that regard, to the point I usually know within the first 5 min whether I will uninstall a MMO I try before I even consider any of its other features. SW:TOR seems to have managed that well so that's a plus.
I found the graphics to be a bit disappointing for something being released at the end of 2011. I heard AA is disabled for the beta and I didn't bother forcing it but the lack of it was noticeable. Apart from that, I didn't feel that the overall art style direction that they went for (cartoony if that's a word) really works that well for Star Wars. I'm not saying they should've gone Age of Conan or anything, but maybe something closer to Lord of The Rings Online? I don't know, this will be up to personal preference.
Sound seemed ok I am not an audiophile or anything close to it, the effects sounded good and voice work didn't make me cringe. Star Wars music was present so that's cool.
Overall I liked what I saw and it seems it will be cool for Star Wars fans. Whether it will actually hold up as a subscription MMO and how end-game and such will be I can't say. I would recommend for anyone interested in this at all to check out the beta as there are a ton of keys being given out on Curse.com (I think like 175,000 or something).

They fucked up this release big time, by upping the mob difficulty so much that people are having imense trouble killing regular mobs their level... even going as far as having 30m standstills in these fights.

So whats your opinion on this game guys ? Will it be worth it ? Its seriously overpriced in my country (Even for a retail, not talking about that 75€ digital buy). So i rather would love to hear some sum up, i heard its a big grind fest that is boring as crap lately ?
Thanks

Its like any other mmo these days, if you enjoy WoW, you will enjoy WoW with lightsabers...

Like it has been said many times over, it's WoW + voice overs + light-sabers. I have played it enough to know its combat mechanics, and they are exactly like WoW - that is very boring and repetitive. You don't have to use different tactics vs. different mobs, all encounters are the same, you use your skill rotation until the enemy dies. Boring, and braindead.
It will be a huge success - if anything else than simply time will kill WoW, then it's this game. It out WoWs WoW. Perfect for people, who are bored of WoW, but love the mechanics of WoW.

Yep, and it will also sap any modicum of integrity, work ethic, or desire to create something new that the folks at BioWare have left.
How many games has Blizzard released since WoW in 2004? That's right - 1. A whopping one title in 7 years time, with the rest being WoW expansions.
This will be the cash cow EA has been looking for, but the final nail in the coffin for BioWare in terms of anything to look forward to. You can kiss any hope of them working on a new intellectual property goodbye after this launches - it'll be "expansion packs" galore.
And that ladies and gentleman, is how one game can utterly destroy an entire genre (or in this case multiple genres).
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Well... i dont like it too dark, maybe thats the problem with Skyrim for me. And the really unsharp textures at some point gave me the rest
Anyway, ill wait for some decend mods, and play it in the black-hole-games-summer. Oh wait, theres Diablo3...

where is the installer and java bypass? can u explain better and put some link? even pm |
Oh my, im not sure if im allowed to post links, but well... im here since 2001 or so, and my registration back then never got unlocked, so im fine with just reading
The first link should work, though you probably have to translate. Link
1. Install the client.
2. Let it update
3. Copy over the content of the login workaround
4. Login with some random data
5. Choose language and let it download
