Through the main story line. You can't choose them separately.

You can choose them separately through the "cases" menu, they're unlocked from the start. But yes, if you're playing the story from the beginning you're getting them as part of the storyline.

The Consul's Car
A Slip of the Tongue
Vice Desk
Reefer Madness
The Naked City

Hmm, never knew that. I thought a case was cataloged under Cases menu only if you'd beaten it through the main story.

I just completed the game. I do have to say kinda shitty ending indeed.
Spoiler: | The Chief of Police and that dickhead Earl are still loose, and the fucking assistant DA took Chief's offer. Fucking shit. |

Can anyone offer some advice? I didn't like any of the GTA like games and I feel that I won't like LA noire either but the reviews and comments make the game sound like it shouldn't be missed. Game releases the past few months have been heavy and I'm way backlogged on good games as it is.
So, do you think that I will like this? Typically, I prefer RPGs, hack/slash, shooters, strategy games, and anything which makes you think. I detest games which rely on speed or time runs, as I guess my coordination isn't what it used to be, and games that don't have a good story or pull you in. This is why I feel LA Noire is not going to last long for me.
If I pass on this, am I missing anything revolutionary?

It's an adventure game, not a GTA clone.

L.A noire is an ADVENTURE game. You walk around, collect items, talk to people. Imagine isometric 2d adventure detectivistic game. this is it.
there is shooting and driving. But completly skipable and there is not much of it.
And presentation is incredible. Faces, graphics, music.
would say dont go for it If You dont like plot heavy adventure games

Thought it was great
Spoiler: | Very true to the noir movies that depict the same era. Shame the dev closed down I wouldve loved to see a sequel with maybe Jack Kelso going PI and doing another case maybe 10 years later? |
My only gripe was Spoiler: | That the climax from Okinawa was that he had sent them in to clear the cave. Everyone else was bombing their targets and the end result would have been the same. If the Cowboy hadn't been a retard and flipped on the flame and burned everyone they might have survived. They wouldnt had Kelso been leading that particular cave raid. |

I have a huge problems with this game. It strutters as fuck making it unplayable. One time it's in 20+ fps just to be 4~8 fps for a while. It's completly makes the game unplayable. It has nothing to do with options I tried everything from 1280x1024 maxed out to 800x600 minimal.
I'm on quite old rig C2D e4300@3Ghz, 2GB RAM and R4850.
Do you have some recomendations on what to do? (other than wait few months till I'll get PS3).

It did the trick, thanks.
Weird thing is that I'm quite sure I tried it yesterday and it didn't work. Maybe I did a type'o or something.
Ah it didn't work for me from the launcher but it works from desktop shortcut. Wicked.

That's what you get for releasing the game 6 months later on the PC when all the hype has died down and at the same time with Skyrim no less. Extra dumb points for that are in order. Around the release time when I looked, Skyrim peaked at 200,000+ concurrent players while L.A. Noire at the same time had ~600 players... So yeah, no comments necessary. Currently it doesn't even reach the Steam's Top 100 games.
Sure, it was never going to be anywhere as big of a realease than Skyrim and it isn't Steamworks game so not all players get included in the stat but already 50% off, it's clear the game tanked badly.

A pessimistic man might think this release was purposefully set to fail to justify a console only GTA5.

it's only just barely even close to similar to GTA, it's more of a soap opera to be honest.

I'm dl'ing the game now. Is this game also frame-locked?? Any way to bypass that?
1 and 2 are still amazing.
