I'm planning to format my C drive. Now I know that once I do that, my games that were installed in drive D wont work anymore... I guess the reason for that is because the registry keys will be gone. Is there any way I could fix this? Somehow to reinstall each game's registry keys?

Just save your Save Games somewhere, re-install the game to the same path, then copy your save games back.

You can download the ripversion of the game because rip version often comes with the registry file needed by the application.

Export your reg keys. Its fairly simple, get a run box open and type REGEDIT, the program which pop's up is an inbuilt windows app that allows you to edit your registry. Now to back up your whole registry so that when you reinstall everything that was working will work again you simply click

FILE --> EXPORT

If you only want to export the reg values of a certain game it gets a little more complex, you would have to find each reg key, right click on its folder and EXPORT. I would suggest simply exporting the whole "software" folder held in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" this should do the job. You will be left with reg values that are not needed, but it shouldnt cause that much bother.

After the format/reinstall to import them again simply double click on the .reg file's you created durring the export or open regedit and click

FILE ---> IMPORT

Bingo. Hope that helps.

Thanks alot for your help [Syn]!
I did a search for each game in the registry and exported what I found.
I hope it'll work. I'm still in the process of re-installing everything, I hate that part...

Well it worked with Thief, but with FarCry, saving the registry keys isnt enough. There is also a *.dll file that should saved.
Nevermind though, as long thief is working I'm happy Smile.
Thanks again!
