ill tell you what i dont find acceptable. everything was going fine, then i hit FUCKING BLACKREACH and companion pathfinding went all to fuck. it got to the point where i was telling them just to wait here while i solo'd the fucking thing myself, because if i wasnt CONSTANTLY watching them, theyd just stop and refuse to move...
seriously, that whole thing just pissed me off royal... hands down the most miserable experience ive had with the game (that otherwise had been a lot of fun). its just not enjoyable having to babysit your companion for the ENTIRE time.
when i had my big 'FUUUUCKKKKKKKK wtf did my companion go' post a page or 2 back, i finally bothered to watch my companion and i found the problem... and here it is:
and YES, in hindsight, i probably could have tried directly controlling them.. but the point is, i really shouldnt have to.. i should be able to trust that they can follow me - espcially over some simple terrain as this for fucks sake!
oh, and some pictures of two SEPERATE occassions!!
this is from the first time i looked back and noticed my companion was apparently stopping for an unscheduled lunch break look at that nice open gentle slope! i actually went back to see if the ai would pick up on me and begin following, but she WOULD NOT GO DOWN THAT PATH no matter what i did!
----------
and this one! for fucks sake, ITS THE MIDDLE OF A BRIDGE WITH NO CLUTTER ANYWHERE NEAR! why cant you walk across a fucking bridge!!!
My HD4850 also gets auto-detected to "High" but I played around and raised some settings, and I still usually have around ~40-50 FPS. Cities give some trouble (Solitude, Makarth, Riften) - it drops down, but the lowest is around ~20. The game is very CPU-bound though, so I'm pretty sure that's the bottleneck.
Game is cpu demanding. It runs well on high with full distance and full lod sliders even on 8800gt's with quad cpu's.
Super strange, Skyrim works 100% perfect on my machine, I did have some crash but max 2 within a few days play...
Also the GFX are on MAX...But Saints row 3 runs just super shity .... WTF ???
After killing the dragon and returning to tamriel, where the chick and the old man? Also the graybeards seem to have left their keep?
I liked the story, very short but interesting, but It feels you didnt really get a nice closure, like talking to the graybeards or something like that
Dont mess with God, he can impregnate your girlfriend/wife without taking his pants off!

Wait till you find out that they don't level up with you.

I find that if my companion stops following me, my sheathing and unsheating of my weapon (which causes them to do the same) gets them moving again. I think it causes a sort of "reset" for their AI because they may have been stuck trying to figure something out.
My companion, so far, has been a lifesaver though. I just let him tank the enemies while I casually switch between attacking those enemies and healing him. I'm saving a lot of potions this way. When I recruited him, I had only intended to use him for this one quest that I was struggling with. However, he's ended up surviving several sidequests, fort/cave clearings, and two random dragon battles.

the guy in your avatar is always looking right at the funny pictures you post and it cracks me up every time. you 'bumped' a thread a while ago with a .gif of boobies and your avatars 'reaction' to it was priceless...
I found that guy about two days ago while running around not far from Markarth, for about 30 seconds before he was cut down while I was a bit too far away to do anything, was arguing with some armored (nordic steel plate.) mercenary about some Maven (Black Briar?) person though I didn't hear much of it and then he just kinda died when the other dude ran him trough via a finishing move animation.
(Kinda similar to the guy later on that was running up to me, giving me a blessed iron mace and asking me to keep it and then hiding behind some rocks a while away - near a giant den - and then another guy runs up to me and asks about said person whom I gave up as it turned out the item was stolen, then both of these charge at each other into the giant camp and gets killed by a mammoth leaving me with the item - and what else they had - once again. )
So any tips on how to run this as smoothly as possible?
