It is... but it isn't. So far only the Crown3DS has been announced and it turns out that it's functionally more like a cloned game cart than a multi-use flash cart. The original video and "press" release of Crown3DS' work showed one backup working ... well the fact is, that's the ONLY backup that works, though the team claim they're working on making it compatible with other games too. Didn't the DSi stay uncracked as well?

Still have to play 100 NDS games so the 3DS will have to wait. BUT... 3DS is backwards compatible.

i wouldnt advice playing NDS games on 3DS, its not 1:1 pixel resolution wise, and at those low res it shows in a horrible way.

I *hope* it's a formulaic game with just a lick of paint. That's exactly what I want from Mario Kart. Just give me new tracks and vehicles and I'm happy.

Loads more releases pumped out by Contrast and LGC over the last couple of days, but still no solid evidence of a 'backup' system?
I buy my son the games for this piece of useless plastic and as mentioned most of them are crap. It would be nice to try before I buy.

it's not that useless. 
but yeah a lot of games are useless and the selection is rather weak
but zelda in 3d is orsom, nintendogs is orsom... gonna pick up mario kart and mario this week. some of the downloadable 3d games are cool too. and netflix is \o/

my daughter updated the 3ds and now R4 card not working anymore...
its probably a negative answer but is there some way rolling back the 3ds updated?
