well, tapes are good for backing stuff up and its still used although with the high disk capacities people tend to go for hdd backups nowadays...
I use alot of floppies at work, as we still have some old pcs that we run our experiments on, so its easier to just grab a disk and run over to copy the data instead of networking them and having the nightmare of having some totally unsecure systems on the net.
Still i always feel petty for those that dont have a dvd-rom. I had one ever since pc-gaming magazines started to have dvd-versions with movies on em. Nowadays they are so dirt-cheap it beats the crap outa me even thinking about the possibility of not having one. And even if you dont have one, there is still the good old mounting trick, just burn the rars to cds then...

While messing around in the directory and settings files I noticed this, it might be what you're looking for but I've not tested it.

Anyone else notice the cops arent as aggresive as the previous games and wont chase you even if you drive by them at max speed?

They didn't before, what they did do is come after you even if you made even a slight scratch on someone elses car.

Is it possible to turn off the blur effect? I mean if you drive at high speeds the gfx engine draws the surroundings blurry, i knew it could be turned off in GTA 3 and GTA VC, but i havent found anything in the settings of GTA SA?

usually those are posted as dox and you ll get it when everybody else will get it. I certainly havent even installed it, so considering that you ll have to play for "some" hours before getting the whole city it might be a "tad" too early to ask for one

man you know how much will have to be ripped out to get it to be smaller than 1 cd..
pretty much most of the game...
the game installed does need 4gb out of your hd
a cd can only hold 700mb
GTA is a game that needs to be experienced in its full glory... ripping it wont do it justice
if you cant get the iso i suggest buy the game

Pros:
1. Graphics engine underwent an overhaul. Stuff looks alot more detailed than previous installments. Anti-aliasing is also supported via ingame menu now, but only up to 3x.
Cons:
1. The control scheme is utterly horrid.
Trying to shoot from a vehicle is not possible, as everytime you move your mouse, it changes your camera angle. No way to disable this via options. Thus, you can't see where the fuck you're turning/going during chases where you need to kill/damage opponents.
2. Dialect.
Two points here: A. It tries TOO hard to be gangster. Every other word is "motherfucka", or "nigga".
B. I feel like I need a dictionary to understand what the hell is being said. I find myself trying to decipher what people are talking about, instead of being able to focus on the mission at hand. Maybe I come from the wrong racial/ethnic background or something? Perhaps they don't want non-gangbangers appreciating the story?
3. Missions.
Pretty unforgiving. Slightest fuckup on your part and you fail. Especially the beggining one where its you on a bike vs. a car full of uzis.
You have to follow your buddy back to an unknown point. The only problem is, if you dont go FASTER than your buddy , the car will crash into you and rape you. So basically you slow down to wait for his fat fuckin ass..meanwhile taking damage, until you know where to go. Restart, go faster, to the point you found out last time, bleh. Its doable...but clearly not player friendly. Whats with this tap the "specified key" to go faster? What is this...a fuckin button mashing contest?
4. Lack of station variety.
Well, you have 9 stations devoted to gangster rap, a dub, some modern ass one (still gangsterish), a country station, a talk station, and a custom
No way to toggle it so that every time you enter a car, one station is automatically turned on. Keeping have to fip through shit.
5. Gimmicky Gameplay Bullshit
Didn't get too far, but I did experience the eating/working out section. Pure button mashing bullshit/shallow choice. Enough said.
Bottom line: It beats GTA: VC in regards to graphical appeal, size, and scope. However, it fails HORRIBLY in regards to control scheme, camera control, and storyline appealingness (pure opinion there, however). Maybe it gets better down the line, but I just couldn't enjoy this/wade through all the bullshit to get there.
My two cents. No doubt alot of you guys will like it, nothing wrong with that. But they didn't remedy any of the problems of the previous one gameplay wise, simply added to it. Undeserving of the high ratings its gettting everywhere. |
about the stations comment...
THATS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE, you have to remember your stealing cars, it will be on a station set by a previous owner, what you think if you were to steal a car in real life that the car you steal will automatically changes to a station you like?
