Yeah well it is not like I approve of it myself, but that guy back then made me fucking angry and I showed him who is boss. After all I wasn't stationed in Germany during the end of the Cold War because I wanted that, I was stationed there because I was drafted. Has got a lot to do with Germany starting three big wars in a row in an historically short time, starting with the Franco-Prussian War.

Anyway for the rest I agree with you zipfero, it should be hard to get a licence.

Some target practice with arrow and bow I would really like, preferably stuff that I make myself.

What's the statistic again, now? Is it like 27 times more likely to get injured in gun related violence than not if you own a firearm?

I believe that you are correct. The main reason that is true is because people don't take owning a firearm as seriously as they should. I'm a firm believer in proper training and in proper storage and maintenance of firearms (or anything that can shoot a projectile that can kill anything). With that being said, I also believe that people should have proper training to use a computer or have children, but neither are going to happen. Luckily, the stupid ones either shoot themselves or shoot someone who is stupid enough to get around the idiot with the firearm, and thusly, they thin the herd.

And I agree with Doob. It begins with the shooter taking responsibility for their firearms. While I have no official training, I have been instructed by people who have had copious amounts of training and I always have an open ear to advice on handling and usage. A lot of it comes down to common sense as well, which unfortunately, a lot of people don't have.

Common sense, not so common.

I am no friend of guns, and I see not many people killed with guns over here, so I guess a ban on firearms outside of hunting is a good thing.

I can see the fun in hunting or at a shooting range though.

Those spikey things on the top are rails..it allows you to add universal components and place them along the top half wherever you want. They will slide down the top and "click" into each little spike kind of like the way handcuffs work. A beautiful weapon..and an excellent choice for taking out prey at 1.5-2KM

Hey I can use that to unclog my toilet! Too bad guns are illegal in Holland...

Some people like the skill and discipline of practicing marksmanship. There's a lot involved with acquiring your shot so the learning aspect is what drives most people.

Me personally I like my shotguns, I love clay shooting.

I started really shooting when I turned 21. I just wanted to pull the trigger and hear the boom. That's when I got the .50. I didn't care if I hit anything.

About a year later, I stopped shooting for a while. Video games were my joy heh. I ended up selling the .50 but within a couple more years, I ended up taking it up again and this time I had a lot of help/guidance with HOW to shoot.

I improved my skill considerably and it eventually drove me to become better. That became my challenge and my fun. While still just a hobby, I will challenge myself in some way whenever I go to the range. As I mentioned, I've never had any formal training, but I did have someone come up to me and ask if I was ex-military. I must have been doing something right Very Happy.

Edit: The overall point to my post was to kinda add to Spykez post. Essentially the love of firearms is the challenge of marksmanship. I've also shot clay and that is an absolute blast.

But seriously, shooting a .50 cal for marksmanship? It's an anti-vehicle rifle..whats wrong with an M40 or the like for that

your shoulder must be smurf colored all the time

The Barrett .50 isn't really that terrible on the shoulder, it's (from what I hear) one of the more pleasant .50's to shoot.

@JahLux - Take the nonsense else ware please.

Honestly, outside the states that is the common sentiment about your fixation with huge guns and your zealotry about the rights to own them Laughing Can't say I disagree Very Happy Hows gun violence in the US, at the moment? Very Happy

Whether or not it's a common sentiment doesn't really mean there is a need to be an ass about it. It makes your own countries look rather shallow and hypocritical on the issue when the only two responses are "Why do you want the gun" and when an answer is given, a followup of LOL AMERRUHHKIUHHHH FAT ASSES!

Hmm that's why I avoid the discussion but your constitutional right to own firearms dates back to the 18th century. A different time and place. You tell me if in the current USA this right is still very functional.

It's very much not..and I'm even defending the right to own guns. I have the right however..and I enjoy firing them at the range. I guess it was a bit too much to hope to be able to discuss something that I (and apparently a few others) enjoy on the hump without controversy..but I had my hopes.

Maybe..but as one of the few Americans on the forum.. and only I think all of them here are fairly normal people, it gets face palmingly irritating to see anti America posts in just about every thread.
