Don't know if it's only me, but I think the game is damn buggy!
And the graphic / textures SUX..
And the game crash sometimes too..
And the shadows..
Damn..
The "shadows" is filled with bugs!
I hate you.

Rob people, do burglaries at night in a black moving van, get an ambulance or fire truck and do those missions, etc.
Make sure you bring at least $1000 with you to that mission. There's no reason to bet less than the max since if you fail the mission you'll just reload the game anyway. Might as well get the most out of it.
As for people who can't get MP3s to play, there may be a problem with your system files for MP3 decoding. The game doesn't ship with a decoder because they would have had to pay licensing to Fraunhofer IIS if they did (it uses Ogg Vorbis for everything since it is free/open source). Most people should already have a working decoder from Windows Media Player, if not try updating--just remember that WMP10 has the same anti-piracy stuff as SP2, so don't update to it if you have a shitty XP cd key.

Probably just your system. I have no graphical errors at all, and it looks great.

I just played a few mission works like a charm, but Ati users seems to have real problems. Only advice i can give is update everything on your computer try different drivers etc.

This game is amazing !!!!! dnt understand people who cry about thing !!
My spec : Atlhon 2600+ /756 ddr400 /msi k7n nforce2/ sb audigy 2/ old Gf ti 4200 64!
800*600 full quality = the game is great , graphics nice with nice speed effect , sun effect ( genre l'effet de grosse chaleur dans le desert ) (( sry french  )!
city is alive , people evrywhere , car crash , driving bike is crazy and funnny !
5 hours play it , 5 hour Xcited !
nothing more ! great opus Tks guy!
i will post a gameplay footage using fraps soon!
ps: mm , what is boiling point road to hill ? an critical error ?

Well since it's posted on 11 newsgroups or so, you can easily get it complete. You can just use a free newsserver like freenet to get it complete. Only 1.5 retention on that one but it's complete there. So impossible not to get it via the newsgroups.

I seriously doubt it's related to you having an ATI card. I have on and it seems to work fine so far.

The shitness of torrents. I still have to wait close to two days for the game.
I shall bang my head on the wall several times momentarily.
And the sound issues, and graphical flickering seems to be GTA:SA being buggy.
According to gamespot, they tested the game on several machines, and got similar problems.

I found that it will hang to black screen on startup IF key is pressed before "presents..." text... DO NOT PRESS keys before the animation is running(after the logos)

Game runs decent here. 800x600 with texture low though. It crashed once a couple minutes into it. Haven't had a sound problem yet but then again I only played for about 10 minutes.

game works fine here, no issues only an audio distorting issue cos of my gay soundcard, fixed that by turning audio accelleration to 'standard' in dxdiag. no problems ever since.

I have to agree the graphics this time around are topnotch with the view distance ste on high and 3xAA, I didnt see a 4xAA(only 1,2 and 3). I played it at 1280 x 960 and the downtown in the game is sweet.
