How many species are extinct every day due to humans raping rain forests and whatnot? But lets revive mammoths... (still somewhat epic though)
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Don't they take DNA samples from rare species anyway? |
Yea, there are DNA banks around the world containing most endangered species.

Ahh, so then everything is ok, or what?
I dont see how that justifies the extinction of so many species that is happening through our irresponsible destruction of the biosphere nowadays. The most important thing about life is that it evolves and adapts etc. but how can that happen when the DNA is just stored somewhere? What is the use? Restore them after we put the rainforests back?
Still better than nothing I guess..

the creature would die from infection.

You think that any of the living species here today evolved without destroying a competing species in the meantime? No. I'm all for environmental awareness but you seem to be extremely onesided in your view. We only commented on what you wrote since it seemed to make very little sense.

a completely insignificant amount given the sheer number of species have gone extinct before we even showed up.

No, I didnt say scientists were responsible for killing those species. I just think that those DNA banks, good as they are, do not really justify the eradicating of those species in our rainforests. Thats what I thought you wanted to say in that first post.
We, as humans are quite responsible for the destruction of the rainforests though. And that is not a myth or anything.

I just said it to show that on one side, humans like to revive a certain species but on the other side we destroy many others. Thats just an observation and it totally makes sense to me. Why I would seem so "onesided" with my view? I dont know, you tell me. I never said it was bad to try and revive the mammoth, nor did I say the DNA banks were bad.

our involvement in the extinction of species is as minute pouring a droplet of warm water into an ice cold bath.
i'm all for bringing back the past... but it won't last. It won't do anything. It'll just be an ooh moment and then a woa moment when psychos go against it and start bombing labs and then a wee moment when a deadly strain for the brid flu destroys 50% of mankind. :O

Right, you are also a climate change denier I belief? |
bit of both. I just don't believe we are the actual cause of the whole climate change phenomenon If you believe we are the cause then you might as well believe that earth is 6 thousand years old because frankly... she was doing fine before we got here and she'll be fine when we leave... Environmentalists are looking for a pay cheque, cunt lady who recycles bottles and yells at you when you litter smokes cigarettes and drives a hummer, and that boy who separates all the cans and plastic bottles will end up drag racing for a living and when some under age floozie tells him she'll suck him off if he outruns the police, he'll do it.
the earth is fine. we are saying she's not because we don't like cold winters, hot summers, and we complain too much. In the long run, when we're all dust and our children's children will be dust and all that remain are animals... shit will even it self out and it'll be cool and nice and and green and we'll be as insignificant to the planet as the dinosaurs are now to us.

You're from Canada huh? Enjoying the ultra hot and ultra dry summers already? 3m of snow on top of your car in winter, and your furniture floating out the front door in the monsoon.
