It would piss off those modders who don't give nand dump as this method is really easy to get ur original nand without opening the console and updating new dash

ANYTHING I can do to piss off the "modders" is fine in my book. I'm tired of reading about some cuntish dickhead who overcharges for a mod job, then outright REFUSES to supply the original dumps - or, worse, giving you incorrect ones.

The guy that did my RGH send me my NAND, didn't even have to ask plus the guy was really helpful via PM's about anything I asked him about - must have send him @ 25 PM's. And the glitch cost me about 40 euro's + 10 euros courier cost.

So yeah, there are some really cool modders out there, among the douche ones. Wink

Oh of course, I wasn't insinuating that all modders are douches. After every drive I've modded, or original Xbox softmod installation, PSP install/etc etc, I've always included the original dumps or system backups. It's just that there seems to be a lot more horror stories lately about greedy scumbags Sad

Yeah, maybe the lack of competition gives them the tenacity to act like that. Then again some people are dicks no mater what.

It is all about supply and demand, when the demand goes up, the supply temporarily drops and the price goes up. I usually charge a bit more than some of my competition because I guarantee no more than a two day turn around and I supply all of the needed dumps for future upgrade (and I store their original files just in case they lose them, as that happens often). And, if the customer doesn't want to attempt the upgrade themselves, I only charge a miniscule amount to do an upgrade, so long as I'm the one who did the original install. If not, I charge for a full mod, because I open the box and check all connections and their solder joints and de-solder/re-solder all of the piss poor joints (which usually amounts to a complete reinstall anyway).

I'm picky about the quality of my work and will tinker with it until it is perfect. That is what the customer is paying for with me. Can't say why these other asshats charge so much for sub-par work.

Always keep that in mind when you are paying someone for a service. Knowing someone first-hand that has had the shop-in-question do work for them is a must. That way, you are pretty much guaranteed to get a good job.

Like they say, when you want it done right, do it yourself.

There's no need to defend yourself mate, I strongly doubt anyone on here falls under the douchebag scum category of commercial modders =) I'm usually talking about people who run a business, or scummy privs that want to force their customers to repeatedly return to them.

I guess I'm a valuable target since I know fuck all about this stuff, they said that they will do the update for me if I pay them a bunch of euros, so I said "Thanks, I'll take that into consideration" and now that I saw that video I'm pretty pissed because they made it sound as if I made a mistake when I ordered, that I only ordered a glitched console, not one that could be updated by myself. So they first said that to update&write my nand I needed the extra chip and installation fee (which amounts to the same cost as the glitch hack itself) then they said that they can do it for me without installing the chip for half the money... and then proceeded to say that "Microsoft don't release new dashboards that often, and the new ones aren't required with games so I don't need the latest version anyway".

So now when I'm watching this video, I'm pretty pissed off at them. But I guess it's as always, business is business. :S

Yes, yes I'm back.

Luckily you came here first before going back to those scabby fucks

(they were right about the dashboard though; MS really don't release new updates very often - and most of the time the games are fine on older dashboards, unless they're epic milestone builds, such as the Blades>NXE update)

Oh, sorry bout that. Didn't mean to come off as being defensive...lol. I was only trying to explain to anyone who is interested in any mod to be sure and do their homework. That is, if they actually read this entire thread, and hopefully they do because it is full of a shitload of information!

Are you attempting to download custom covers from JQE360.com, by chance? I was having some trouble with them on my RGH'd Falcon, so I disabled custom covers in the settings menu. Not sure if this will help, but you might try that if you haven't done so already.

Certainly sounds like a DNS issue, but im sure you have checked your setup a million times in NXE

Of course, there's absolutely no need for additional chips. Even Xbox can update itself, so why wouldn't Flash360 work? Laughing Someone's bullshitting someone.
yeah seems like fisk was miss informed :/

JTAG still seems better when it comes to FSD stability and playing arcade and DLC.

I haven't run into any issues thus far with my RGH. It actually boots into FSD faster than my JTAG (they are both falcons, btw). The only issue that I've had was getting my 2TB USB3.0 drive to be recognized by FSD. I eventually had to use NXE to format it by creating Xbox storage on it, then remove the storage (all 16GB of it). And, for the record, I tried using several different formatting tools and none made the drive readable in FSD (and I was formatting with FAT32). I just hate that the built-in disk management utility in Windows doesn't allow one to format a drive with FAT32 anymore. Sure, NTFS is superior, but some machines (and DOS) won't read or write to it without secondary software. Fucking bollocks, I say.

I got a tool called "FAT 32 FORMAT" that worked fine on my 2TB USB-HDD.

wish i could help, but im really not sure what the issue is. Mine was becasue i was blocking live DNS since you get covers etc from live servers.

Do you have a unmodded box you can hook up and check if you can access live?

I, too, was running into this issue when I first got FSD installed on my first JTAG. I can't, for the life of me, remember what I did to fix it, but I do remember that it as purely a NAT/router problem. You might see if you can forward the following ports to your xbox in your router's config page.

Code:
TCP only ports:
80
UDP only ports:
88
TCP & UDP ports:
53
3074

or just try opening a DMZ to your Xbox's IP. My guess is something in your router's settings. You also might try flushing the cache (was that already mentioned?) in FSD or try deleting the artwork folder in the fsdata folder on your HDD (I think that's the folder that contains the covers), as sometimes, if a game's cover art is corrupt it could theoretically cause a weird lockup issue.

Since I'm at work away from my xboxes, I'm not really sure if any of this will work. If I think of something else, I'll be sure and post it.

You can also change filesystem without formating Wink

in cmd: "convert drive_letter: /fs:fat32"

Hate to butt into the topic because my total noob-ness in the subject and randomly browsing in this topic leads me to nowhere, I want to ask just a couple of simple questions.

How far along is the development in the RGH-scene?
Is the current state of RGH comparable to JTAG?
Is there a custom dashboard currently available?
Any drawbacks (except no Live)?
After getting a console glitched, is it easy to add or update dashboards, games, dlc, XBL Arcade games?

So once again, sorry for the noob questions, but I can't really wrap my head around the current state of RGH.

I'm awaiting to get my machine done, Xmas is killing me, try being unemployed with a wife and 11yr old at Xmas, its murder, worse still my daughters birthday is in Jan...ekk..

Any way,

Yes it totally comparable with Jtag now

Yes there are custom dashes

No drawbacks apart from LIVE...Add a load of opportunities actually. If playing on line is your thing then no, but if its just getting Live content then there's no problem..

As for the updating I can't give a 100% answer, I've been told its easy, did look at the video a few posts back and it seems to just need a nice little mem stick..Can't be 100% tho..

As said, the DLC is out there to put on manually..

It's right up there with the JTAG-scene.

RGH is pretty much JTAG like. Other than the hacking methods and the booters, everything works the same way.
By having an RGH box you can use everything a JTAG box can use.

I can't think of any drawbacks so far on a RGH box. Well, there's the CB 6751/2 thing, but that really has nothing to do with the RGH; it's more like a pre-RGH.

The only "drawback" might be for some people regarding the boot times, they are inconsistent and might take more than a few seconds to boot. Especially on slims and fat jaspers with 256/512 internal mem.

For example: 9/10 times my box boots instantly but ~ 1 week ago I had a few times where it took a while to boot - from 20sec-1 min - though it never happened since, and I assume the fact that it was like 1-2 °C in my room (because I had my windows open for a few hours) might have something to do with that. grinhurt
I'm also not using tx coolruner or matrix chips so those might be more faster - but I will in no way guaranty that.

There's also one HUGE advantage to RGH over JTAG; the ability to use brand new machines, rather than ancient - death-prone - JTAG compatible ones, which not only improves longevity and lifetime of the machine, but also doesn't put such a magnificent dent in your pocket Very Happy
