If you have your key you should be able to update it, not sure if you need additional tools for the slim, though.
If you can I'd still recommend a ck3 lite as it should make things easier. But maybe someone with slim experience could help you out more on this.
Check the slim section in the jungleflasher tutorial about that.

I'll ask again because I don't know for sure yet - If I have a 360 with 2.0 (a Lite-On), can I "safely" update to the latest dash if I only plan on playing originals until LT+ 3.0?
The biggest threat with the new update is dae.bin, right? And that only affects backups?

I did some more testing and DONT have good news...
So xgd3 games work only with TU trick and only when NOT installed to hdd.
I did tests on different media so I think i am creditable.
Skyrim works flawlesly from disc. Just as it did before (I was playing it for better looking textures this way) but it doestn work when installed just as saints row3 or halo anniversary.
Games work fo 2-3 minutes and since game is playing from the hdd You can hear actuall check being scanned on disc "peek, peek, peek, peek... etc" then BAM- disc failed authorization and everything works just ok when not installed.
Also when failed authorization - console restarts itself.... dunno If I am flagged now or not(doesnt really care) - I will just go to live and see:D Ban doesnt resoult in anything anyway as I've heard
I really dont understand how this works and why its like this... I hope someone will figure out something soon, becouse installing games is essential. (tho old games(not xgd3) works from the hdd)
As for now - put Your 360 horizontal and replace rubber feet with bigger ones for minimum possible noise.....
btw. Ive put 40hours in Skyrim not installed with patch 1.1 and it wasnt so loud. After it caches everything after like hour or two of gameplay, then disc is only spinning, without any other noises and squeeks etc

Is there a way to play gears3 on new metro dash?
Even using Tu trick I am getting disc error. Authentication error when game is installed to had after like 3 mintes and unreadable error when game is not installed and running off disc... tho might be a bad burn, becouse its not verbatim disc.
All games work, tho only difference is xgd3 must not be installed and patches used for TU trick cant be new patches. So if anything new comes out, it will be unplayable from now on until 3.0 and new abgx
Edit: Also I can donnect to xbl without ban even tho I am getting those authentication errors on xgd3 games sometimes

yes. lt.20 rolled out and everything was allright. People could happily truncate or burn 100% discs on their nice flashed writers... then a silent update came which made games to stop working but then it was unevield that those still can be played if title update for a game is installed on usb stick.
then a new metro dash came which absolutly forbids installing xgd3 games (even with patches). only way to play games no is WITH patches and off the disc.

Thanks a lot for summary. Does this apply only if you got the silent update? I burn my games without truncating them - I have the MAX firmware for my Lite-on.

Yes. if You dont have silent update or new metro dash (which comes with update), then You are allright.
Offcourse soon, games will require to install metro but then lt30 will be out

What would happen if I would connect my 360(phat jasper elite) to pc monitor via hdmi->dvi cable and at the same time to my tv via vga bigben cable(this one contains audio rca which I connect to my speakers directly.)
So it would be 2 outputs in back of 360 used. one for dvi pc screen and one for vga hdtv.
I guess that resolution would be halfed? and sound would be two times more quiet?

Ohh and btw. Any news on lt30? Skyrim TU3 update came out and its finally playable but it doesnt work with this update. Skyrim only works with first update for people with new dash or updated dae.bin

No your xbox wont display video or audio on 2 displays at the same time, you would have to choose which one to use for video and which one for audio.

btw. Which version of Hdmi does 360 phat jasper elite have?
I have 1.3 hdmi cable and wonder what that means. I know that 1.4 is for 3d purposes

you can actually use the audio of the av while using hdmi>dvi cable.
